Jeep Talk Show

A Show About Jeeps!

Episode 992 – Jeep Momma Mystery

Easter Jeep Safari 2024

Easter Jeep Safari for 2024 is from March 23rd to March 31st, 2024.

Last year it was a week later.  It was in the 20s on that first night of camping I did in a beautiful open area spot that team member FU Bob found for us.  Beautiful doesn’t even come close to a proper description.  It warmed up on Tuesday, but it was a perfect temp for a Fatboy during the day!  Jeep Talk Show team members and listeners are going again this year, and there have been concerns there may be snow on the ground.  Personally, this excites me being from S.E. Texas.  I saw snow in 1974, 5” deep, and then again last year in Colorado while traveling to Moab.

When I talk to people about EJS I typically hear, no I’m not going.  It’s too crowded during EJS.  This was not my experience.  It could be that friends of the show, team members,, and listeners, have revealed the secret.  Even though the event is put on by Red Rock 4 Wheelers, Inc.  We went on our own and weren’t part of their event, not officially.

Red Rock 4 Wheelers has a great event, trail rides, and more.  We highly recommend checking out their site rr4w.com and checking out their offerings.  They even have a magazine!

Of course you’re welcome to come run with us.  It’s free!

OOne of the questions I’ve been asked since going for the first time last year is what modifications did I make to the 2021 Jeep Talk Show Gladiator so I could do the trails.  First I have to say this again, a stock Wrangler or Gladiator will be able to most, if not all the trails.  Lift, tires, skids make damage LESS likely.  A stock Wrangler and Gladiator are very capable off-road rigs.  And if you’re with us and you have trouble getting up, or down an obstacle we’ll point out the bypass, or drag your ass up, or down. 😀We’re about 3 weeks away from EJS so you don’t need to do a bunch of modifications before you can go.  If you’re concerned about a trail, you can always ride with one of us.

Are you going to EJS 2024?  Even if you’re not going to be in the JTS group, we’d like to know and meet you!

The Jeep Momma Story

Tammy a.k.a. Jeep Momma left the show in June of 2022.  We purposely didn’t advertise or talk about this on the show.  Tammy has always been an open book, hopefully, she’s willing to fill in the mystery now.

Can we talk about this Tammy?

First off let’s let the new listeners know when you started on the Jeep Talk Show.  As I recall we were in the 100’s of the show episode count.

Jeep Talk Show Gladiator Update

Until last week I wasn’t going to EJS 2024.  I’ve been looking forward to it since I left Moab last year.  Something changed that now is going to allow me to go.

Of course, that means I got to get some things done to the Gladiator.  I probably won’t need them, but I’ll turn them on if Greg Henderson is around, and get the rock lights fixed.  I have a loose connection that is keeping the driver’s side working 100% of the time.  Simple fix, I think.  Also, I think I’m going to change out the red lenses on the rear KC Cyclone V2 and go with amber.  The red is a perfect red, but it’s very dim.  I have a total of 9 of these lights set up.  Red, white, and amber.

As mentioned in a prior episode the Motobilt skid system is 50% installed.  I will get the fuel tank skid prepped and installed, and I’ll have to test-fit the exhaust skid to see how many attachment points I am missing.  It’s possible that in the three weeks I have left I can find a shop to weld in the bungs.

One of my small TYRI Lights has some sort of wiring issue.  Again it’s unlikely I’ll need these lights as I won’t be leading trail runs at night, but having a 100% fully functional Jeep means it will be there if I need it.  Don’t forget last year I was by myself getting off Metal Masher and it was getting dark as I was trying to “see” a non-existent trail.

Honestly, these are things I want to get done.  As the Jeep sits now it has more skid protection than it did last year.

Are you going EJS, or maybe off-road soon?  What do you need to get ready before you go?

Must-Have Stuff for Your Jeep!

Speaking of TYRI lights, I am extremely pleased with the TYRI Lights that I was sent to install on the Gladiator.  I still have three that I haven’t installed yet.  The build quality is excellent, the light is bright.  It’s exactly what you’d expect from a commercial light for mining equipment.

The lights I’m going to recommend to you on this episode are the TYRI 1010 4600 eLumen w-Lens Cover and Off-Road Harness $258.00 for one.

The TYRI 1010 achieves an output of 4600 lumens and is tested to outperform in the most austere environments. Vibration dampeners are standard and an advantage when ground conditions cause increased vibrations and shock.

You know how I am about lights, I love these lights!
