Jeep Talk Show

A Show About Jeeps!

Episode 752 – Would You Leave Your Jeep Behind?

This Week In Jeep

Excuse Me, Sir… I Believe You Left Something Behind

Who among us hasn’t had the urge (or gets one every time you drive the Jeep) to just suddenly veer off the road and start making your own trails in that grove of trees over there, or that one giant, muddy, empty lot in that one industrial park….? We all know of at least a spot or two within a short drive of where we live that if the conditions were right, and you absolutely knew you could get away with it, would wheel the snot out of it if even just for a moment. Am I right? (Chuck you don’t count because you own your own trails.) Now doing that sort of thing is of course illegal as hell, and in bad form for anyone who thinks it’s a good idea to keep access as open as possible to public land for the sake of offroading.

  • Jeep ditched Tivoli Bays Wildlife Management Area in Dutchess County
  • Walking trails
  • Looks to be a late model year TJ era Wrangler if I’m not mistaken
  • Modified (wheels, tires -AT though- possibly a budget boost) different bumper, some lights, headlight mod, etc
  • SOMEBODY cared enough for this Jeep to mod it
  • State Owned Land in NY is illegal to wheel on
  • Especially true with a wildlife mgmt area
  • Forest Rangers found the Jeep, called a tow truck capable of off-road recovery
  • One problem though – Rangers can’t find the owner. (According to reports)
  • So the registered owner is no longer at the address? Died? Doesn’t say it was stolen…
  • Where’d they go?

Speaking Of Abandoned Jeeps…

From NY we go to Iowa, where in the town of Davenport, residents woke up to a slightly modified waterfront. It appeared as if someone driving a WJ-era Grand Cherokee decided to ignore the fact the road came to a T, blew right through the intersection, kept going through the park, and then through a guardrail and into the Mississippi River. Not one single skid mark or sign of any braking maneuver at all. It’s almost as if they intended to see if this Grand Cherokee was watertight. Somebody had been watching too much Inspector Gadget, Johnny Quest, or James Bond maybe.

  • How did they pull off the 180?
  • Jeep not stolen
  • No Injuries / No body found / No one inside the Jeep
  • DID discover footsteps in the dirt leading away from the broken railing
  • Police say they found a purse near the crash site
  • Not identifying the owner of the purse or Jeep at this time
  • The recovery crew (Fred’s Towing) did not know WTF they were doing
  • Jeep on its side, on its roof, on its rear bumper

Jeep Talk Show Gladiator Update

Last episode we told you about the unprovoked attack on the 2021 Jeep Talk Show Gladiator that occurred on a bright sunny weekday morning at Sam’s Club.

Getting the Sheriff’s office to pick up the security footage was a PAIN IN THE ASS!

Two HCSO (Harris County Sheriff’s Office) visits the house.  One HSCO visit Sam’s Club while I waited there.

Made a great and friendly/helpful contact with a person from HCSO victim communications, who has a 96 XJ and maybe a new listener.

The investigation has been green-lit to proceed.  I have found out that many times people think they have more evidence than they do.  Having this investigation approved to move forward is a belief that I have provided, and collected enough evidence to bring this person to justice.

I stopped by a local body shop to get an estimate for the repair.  This will determine if it’s a misdemeanor or a felony.

The State of Texas does not “legally” allow people to find out the owner of a vehicle by looking up their license plate or VIN.  I have a connection to the legal community and using that I have the name, and address of the perp.

From what I know now it appears that this guy purchased his 2022 GMC Sierra that he purchased in November.

Keep listening to the Jeep Talk Show for more information on this developing story.
