Howdy boys and girls welcome to Jeep Cherokee xjtalk.com show I Am Tony motoroy on xj talk.com This is the talk show brought to you by Xj talk.com and one of our mini advertisers. I I see we’ve got several people on the chat. Boy, they sure did wait until the last minute to get in there. They may be nervous. This is live call and question and answer night.
[00:01:06:08 – 00:01:14:05]
No scheduled guest. No scheduled interview. We’re just going to take calls if you want to call in. And a lot of me talking.
[00:01:15:15 – 00:01:16:25]
A lot of you talking if you call.
[00:01:16:25 – 00:01:37:14]
But as you can see up on the screen, hopefully, there is the number to call in. Both a standard landline 13 digit number and on the new fangled Skype. If you haven’t added xjtalk.com to your Skype contacts, please do so now.
[00:01:40:02 – 00:01:51:16]
Let’s see who all we’ve got in there. We’ve got Detours, which is Mark. Punisher, which is Paul. Arganard, which is Reenie. I had to have helped learning how to pronounce both those names. Weldman.
[00:01:54:11 – 00:02:07:24]
Let’s see, I think we’ve got some more that popped in there that aren’t showing up. There’s xj4iv, who is Scott. And we’ve got four guests. So we’ll get going here in just, oh gosh, I guess about 10 seconds.
[00:02:42:10 – 00:03:01:04]
This segment is brought to you by Ironman 4×4, the toughest, most adjustable control arms in the industry. Ironman 4×4 has a wide variety of rugged off-road suspension products that are overbuilt and underpriced. Visit Ironman4x4fab.com today. That’s Ironman4x4fab.com.

[00:03:13:18 – 00:03:17:07]
We’re also on Twitter, twitter.com slash xjtalk.
[00:03:17:07 – 00:03:23:01]
Well, we’re already getting a call, so I’m going to take this call real quick and see what’s up.
[00:03:23:01 – 00:03:27:21]
Hey, thanks for calling the xjtalk.com show. Who we got?
[00:03:29:05 – 00:03:36:25]
Wow, it’s Tony. Hey Tony, it’s Scott. Hey man, don’t forget to turn down your computer, otherwise it’ll drive you nuts with the Echo.
[00:03:36:25 – 00:03:38:10]
Oh yeah, I bet.
[00:03:39:11 – 00:03:45:11]
Oh, I have to remember, you know, from all of my years, past years on radio talk shows, I still don’t remember, so.
[00:03:45:11 – 00:03:55:09]
Yeah, so hey, what’s going on in the xjtalk world? I’ve been out for about three weeks. Well, you haven’t been out of the xjtalk world. I mean, you’ve still had an xj, right?
[00:03:55:09 – 00:03:58:03]
Yes, yes, but I’ve been offline.
[00:03:58:03 – 00:04:05:21]
Well, I figured you’d been watching what was going on. Oh, but actually that’s because we
[00:04:05:21 – 00:04:26:07]
have restricted the number of views that guests can do now. I mean, and anybody that is curious about that, I think we all have, all we have here is members. Well, we’ve got three guests, so I’ll mention this anyway. We’ve actually restricted the number of posts that guests, people that aren’t members, can view. And that’s not because we’re
[00:04:26:07 – 00:04:59:03]
It’s because we were getting a lot of, I don’t know, places from China and Russia and stuff, but we’re getting a lot more of the members to view the site. So in an attempt to curb that and make it easier for the members to get the computer time and the disk time and everything else, we tried to curtail the number of views that a guest could do. So we’re getting a lot more registrations now, so I guess people are taking it in the way it was intended, not to be jerks, but try to help the members.
[00:04:59:03 – 00:05:06:27]
Right, right, right, right. So I think you were working on a Dana 60 installation on your XJ. How’s that coming?
[00:05:08:22 – 00:05:11:27]
I hit a big roadblock the other day.
[00:05:13:04 – 00:05:16:20]
I opted for a year 2000 F250 front axle,
[00:05:16:20 – 00:05:21:22]
and a lot of people were saying, you know, it’s not that great of an axle. Yeah, it’s got the Dana 60 strength.
[00:05:22:22 – 00:05:22:25]
But
[00:05:22:25 – 00:05:34:09]
I ran into the issue that the differential was a little too far to the driver’s side, so I have to, I pretty much had to scrap the idea of doing my coils, and I’m going to an air shock setup.
[00:05:34:09 – 00:05:39:27]
Would, waiting on that. Not knowing anything about it, would a leaf spring setup work better?
[00:05:41:04 – 00:05:54:24]
No, because the thing is, going straight down, I don’t have any room for a bracket down there. I’m going to actually have to kind of make my own lower control arm brackets, as well as shock cabs.
[00:05:54:24 – 00:05:57:16]
So there’s really no room for a whole coil bucket.
[00:05:57:16 – 00:06:08:16]
So I’m guessing that that also means that selling this Dana 60 and getting one that would better fit your Jeep would be cost prohibitive.
[00:06:08:16 – 00:06:09:10]
Well,
[00:06:09:10 – 00:06:11:02]
I’m not sure what that means, but…
[00:06:12:02 – 00:06:16:22]
It would cost more to do that than to continue forward with what you’re doing.
[00:06:16:22 – 00:06:24:12]
Oh, well I really don’t have much time and energy into this front axle. All I’ve done is taken one bracket off of it, really, and then just clean it up.
[00:06:26:19 – 00:06:37:00]
The only issue is the correct axle, a few far between, a 79, a 78, 79, F250, and to find one of those is just
[00:06:37:00 – 00:06:43:25]
dang near impossible, and I’m not really down for that. I’d like to get this up and running by the end of
[00:06:43:25 – 00:06:45:19]
month.
[00:06:46:17 – 00:06:50:20]
There’s a trip to the Dempsey Rocks that I want to go to.
[00:06:50:20 – 00:07:26:04]
Well, let me ask you this. Now, I don’t know about this from first-hand doing it, but just watching Extreme 4×4, I’m now an expert. I saw what they did on one of their axles. I don’t know if it was a 60 or not, but what they did was they took the… I think they had to re-center the pumpkin so it would fit their Toyota or whatever it was they were putting it on. And the way they were able to get away with that was they were able to use axles from a different similar… I mean, it was like another Dana 60, but it was from a different year.
[00:07:26:04 – 00:07:42:22]
So they were actually able to take the stock axles because one was shorter than the original one. And you know what I’m saying? They were able to cut it down, move the pumpkin over, weld it back, and then use the shorter axle. That way it got the pumpkin in line with where they needed it.
[00:07:42:22 – 00:07:53:19]
So I’m wondering if the axles for a 78, 79, Dana 60 would fit that one, but you’d have to cut the tube and move the pumpkin over.
[00:07:53:19 – 00:08:04:05]
Right. And I talked to one of my buddies over here in Houston at Javier’s Crawl Shop, or Gulf Coast Crawl Shop, it’s also known as Javier’s Auto’s Unlimited.
[00:08:06:16 – 00:08:08:24]
I talked to him about it, and he said
[00:08:08:24 – 00:08:18:14]
in order to get the best deal possible, because I was looking to get that Chevy lug nut pattern and the correct size
[00:08:18:14 – 00:08:27:19]
on the driver’s side where I can actually put a spring mount and everything, he said the best bet is if you cannot find that 78, 79 Ford axle to get a Chevy axle.
[00:08:27:19 – 00:08:34:20]
Now granted, the only issue is the Chevy axle is passenger side drop. They said what they can do is cut the tubes,
[00:08:34:20 – 00:08:35:24]
flip the sides,
[00:08:35:24 – 00:08:48:21]
and then cut the knuckles off and put the knuckles back on the correct side. And I said, “Okay, well, that’s all fun and dandy, but how much money are we talking?” Yeah, but that’s a grand at least.
[00:08:48:21 – 00:08:57:08]
Yeah, and he was right back up to the same price as getting a kingpin out of a 78, 79. You can find him, it’s just a matter of are you going to shell out $1200 bucks? Right.
[00:08:57:08 – 00:09:02:02]
That was not something I was willing to dive into as well.
[00:09:02:02 – 00:09:07:15]
Well, I thought I might get lucky with some of the stuff I’ve seen in red that was nonspecific to what you were doing.
[00:09:08:29 – 00:09:14:11]
Now this one, you said you were going to use, instead of coils, you were going to use air shocks?
[00:09:14:11 – 00:09:17:17]
Yeah, Fox air shocks, 2.0s. How would that work?
[00:09:18:17 – 00:09:21:06]
They’re a nitrogen-filled shock, and
[00:09:21:06 – 00:09:25:01]
they suspend the weight of your vehicle, kind of like
[00:09:25:01 – 00:09:41:14]
air and nitrogen pressure mixed. Right. I’m not sure exactly the science behind it, but I did it. I mean, it’s just an air shock, but it must be a really heavy-duty one to handle the weight of the front end of the Jeep. Yeah, it’s actually rated to hold up to 500 psi inside the tube.
[00:09:41:14 – 00:09:42:03]
Oh.
[00:09:42:03 – 00:09:49:14]
pretty high. Yeah, I know the old shocks used to fail occasionally. I guess if it fails out on a trail, that’s going to be a good situation.
[00:09:49:14 – 00:09:54:11]
Well, the old shocks that failed were kind of like rubber bags,
[00:09:54:11 – 00:10:05:23]
and this is not the same kind of thing. Because I have the old-school airbag air shocks on my Durango just as a load leveler, and those were hard to find.
[00:10:05:23 – 00:10:10:23]
Interesting. I didn’t realize that. I kind of dissected them a little bit, not took them apart, but
[00:10:10:23 – 00:10:13:23]
I looked them over real good to see how the design worked, and
[00:10:13:23 – 00:10:16:03]
look at the design of the air shocks, and
[00:10:16:03 – 00:10:17:14]
it’s actually going to be,
[00:10:17:14 – 00:10:21:22]
it’s pretty cool. They’re pretty expensive. They’re like $215 a piece,
[00:10:21:22 – 00:10:22:18]
and
[00:10:22:18 – 00:10:27:01]
just selling some stuff to fund that, and hopefully we’ll be able to get those in the next
[00:10:27:01 – 00:10:30:24]
week or so. And I actually got a good deal today on some tires
[00:10:30:24 – 00:10:34:28]
from my buddy over there at Javier’s as well. He’s got a set of
[00:10:34:28 – 00:10:44:08]
37-inch crawler TAs. They’re used up pretty good, but if I’m just off-roading it, they’ll last me another year or two. Right.
[00:10:44:08 – 00:11:01:21]
And he’s selling to me for $100 a piece. Well, it sounds like I’ve got a plan. It’ll be interesting to see how it turns out, and certainly he’s doing it different than what I’m familiar with. So I like seeing that. I hope you don’t have a lot of problems with it, because I know how frustrating that can be.
[00:11:01:21 – 00:11:06:23]
Well, that’s the thing. With as many Google things that are out there, there’s an answer to everything.
[00:11:06:23 – 00:11:13:11]
And sometimes the answer is don’t do it that way. Sometimes the answer is you can do it that way, but it’s going to cost.
[00:11:13:11 – 00:11:19:21]
And the thing is, I have time more than money right now. So if it’s a matter of
[00:11:19:21 – 00:11:25:06]
waiting to find something on eBay, and it might come along once every couple of months, I’m willing to do that.
[00:11:25:06 – 00:11:34:29]
And with the network of people telling me where to find parts and stuff, I’m actually able to get 513 gears for this thing for $139 a piece.
[00:11:34:29 – 00:11:38:05]
And they’re brand new with a warranty and everything.
[00:11:38:05 – 00:11:41:23]
That’s great. And is that something you’re going to try to set up yourself?
[00:11:41:23 – 00:11:45:25]
Yeah, I actually did a lot of research on setting up gears, and
[00:11:45:25 – 00:11:47:17]
I feel pretty comfortable with it.
[00:11:48:13 – 00:11:52:17]
I’ve got a buddy up in Dallas who, he set his ring and pinion on his 88,
[00:11:52:17 – 00:11:53:18]
and
[00:11:53:18 – 00:11:59:15]
he showed me how to do it, everything, and I feel pretty comfortable doing it. I’ve got all the right tools to actually do it.
[00:11:59:15 – 00:12:13:16]
Well, it shouldn’t be so bad since it’s not a daily driver. I was real nervous about mine having the 456s put on. And I would like to know how to do it myself. I’d actually thought about getting another Dana 30,
[00:12:14:23 – 00:12:40:10]
or maybe just the pumpkin, and practicing with it. I didn’t like how it had the crush bearing in it, or a crush sleeve, and you put it in there and, okay, that crush sleeve is used. If you’re going to take it out, put it back in with the crush sleeve. I mean, I don’t think they’re real expensive, but still, I just didn’t like the idea of every time you’re doing something with it, you have to replace that part.
[00:12:40:10 – 00:12:49:12]
Right. And the crush sleeve basically kind of sets up the depth of how far your pinion goes into the pumpkin. And
[00:12:49:12 – 00:13:03:02]
I don’t know exactly how many foot pounds it actually requires, but I know this much. What you do is you torque it down pretty good, and then you put an inch-pound torque wrench on the yoke itself,
[00:13:03:02 – 00:13:04:11]
and you
[00:13:04:11 – 00:13:07:17]
try and turn the yoke with the inch-pound, and
[00:13:07:17 – 00:13:12:20]
when your resistance hits 20 inch-pounds, that’s when your preload is set.
[00:13:12:20 – 00:13:16:18]
And then you can start assembling the rest of the axle.
[00:13:16:18 – 00:13:32:04]
Yeah, well, then there’s, I think there’s shims that go in between there, and if you get that stuff wrong, then your pinion depth isn’t right. And the nice little yellow paint doesn’t look properly on the ring gear.
[00:13:32:04 – 00:13:34:25]
Oh my God, I was just really surprised.
[00:13:35:29 – 00:13:37:21]
The shims go on for the,
[00:13:37:21 – 00:13:45:02]
yeah, there’s some on the pinion, but they’re mostly to do with the right and left play on your ring gear. Right.
[00:13:45:02 – 00:14:12:08]
Actually, I’m getting the Chrysler 8.25 and the Dana 30. I’m doing a mixture of both of them, because it’s been a while since it was done, but I stood there for the 12 hours while we were doing it. And the Dana 30 was the most difficult one to set. The Chrysler 8.25 wasn’t so bad, with the exception of the special tool that you have to have, but at least that one, you adjust the, you don’t have shims on the side. It has,
[00:14:12:08 – 00:14:31:03]
like, big bolts that you twist and adjust to get the side to side play properly. It was nice that you don’t have to use shims, but it was kind of sucky that you have to have this special tool, which we actually made from a long rod and the right size nut. More than that was huge.
[00:14:31:03 – 00:14:32:10]
Yeah, I’d undoubtedly.
[00:14:32:10 – 00:14:42:20]
But it was pretty cool. No doubt it was. But it was pretty cool getting it done. I don’t know that I would feel comfortable doing that on my daily driver. I think I would have to practice before.
[00:14:42:20 – 00:14:43:26]
Right, right.
[00:14:43:26 – 00:14:55:02]
So what else is up? I bet you’re loving that house, having actually been able to work in a driveway instead of out in front of the apartment complex with the neighbors. Oh, yeah. You know, eyeballing you.
[00:14:55:02 – 00:14:59:21]
Yeah, don’t have to worry about that anymore. As a matter of fact, I got a neighbor across the street and he kind of
[00:14:59:21 – 00:15:06:21]
checks it out every time I’m working on the Jeep. He’s like, “Hey, what are you doing today?” And I made some off-road doors last week and
[00:15:06:21 – 00:15:10:20]
I was taking some measurements on him to do the back ones as well tonight.
[00:15:10:20 – 00:15:13:01]
And he came over for a little bit and
[00:15:13:01 – 00:15:13:17]
kind of
[00:15:13:17 – 00:15:15:25]
BSed around for about 30, 40 minutes.
[00:15:15:25 – 00:15:23:04]
And I wrapped everything up and came inside, took a shower and sat down for the video or the show. Excellent. Well, I’m glad you showed up.
[00:15:23:04 – 00:15:39:24]
Yeah, like I was saying, when we started, we only had about two people here and I figured it was going to be a lot of me talking, which it normally is. But I would prefer to have other people saying things that I find interesting, like your Dana 60 build you’ve got going. I’ve just been real interested in that.
[00:15:39:24 – 00:15:41:13]
Yeah. I’m
[00:15:41:13 – 00:15:54:29]
just really ready to be done with this thing. It’s never going to be done. No, the axle portion of it. I mean, that’s a big upgrade. Oh, I wonder why. When you buy them already built,
[00:15:54:29 – 00:15:56:23]
it’s just a pain in the butt.
[00:15:57:24 – 00:16:01:27]
I don’t think I would ever do it again
[00:16:01:27 – 00:16:02:13]
the way I’m doing it.
[00:16:02:13 – 00:16:09:16]
I would probably buy the kingpin and take it to a shot and let them do it. It’s just
[00:16:09:16 – 00:16:10:15]
a pain.
[00:16:10:15 – 00:16:14:02]
But you’re going to be doing something with the rear axle, right?
[00:16:14:02 – 00:16:17:15]
As far as what? What do you got in there now? I thought you had a Dana 35.
[00:16:17:15 – 00:16:26:18]
Oh, yeah, I’ve got Dana 60’s front and rear for it. Okay. Because I think I’d only heard about the front one and I assumed you just had one. I didn’t realize you had them both.
[00:16:26:18 – 00:16:29:05]
No, the rear one is
[00:16:29:05 – 00:16:30:22]
done, I think.
[00:16:30:22 – 00:16:39:04]
Basically, it’s drum brakes right now and if I decide that I want to go disc, which I probably will, that’s the only thing I have to do on it right now.
[00:16:40:14 – 00:16:41:23]
Is it installed? Drums are good.
[00:16:41:23 – 00:16:43:09]
What’s that? Is it installed?
[00:16:43:09 – 00:16:46:28]
No, I’m not going to install it until I get all my gears and everything set. Okay.
[00:16:46:28 – 00:16:53:05]
Basically, I’m not going to install it until I can wheel it out of my garage. Yeah, that makes sense. And go four wheeling. Yeah, that makes sense.
[00:16:53:05 – 00:17:00:16]
I don’t want to take up everybody else’s time. I’m sure we’ve got a few other guys that want to probably give a call.
[00:17:00:16 – 00:17:02:12]
don’t know
[00:17:02:12 – 00:17:12:17]
if your phone is ringing or not, but I don’t want to take up anybody else’s time. Yeah, nope, everything is nice and quiet. I sure appreciate you calling in. My fear is that you’ll be the last caller.
[00:17:13:19 – 00:17:23:05]
So I don’t want to let you go. Oh, come on, guys. I don’t want to let you go, but then again, I’d like to give somebody else a chance too. So it’s going to be one of those leaps of faith.
[00:17:24:19 – 00:17:32:10]
Tell you what, if nobody calls, you just tell me to call back and we’ll shoot the crap. Right. Well, I know I’ve got two people I can count on, you and Rene.
[00:17:32:10 – 00:18:07:16]
All right, man. Thanks for calling. And hey, keep us updated on that Dana 60 build for your XJ. And I forgot to mention it when you called, you know, I think in my head, everybody that’s in the chat room and certainly me, they all know who you are. This is the people listening may not. This is Scott XJ4IV from XJtalk.com. He’s been a member for a pretty good while. He left us for about a month and recently came back. So welcome back, Scott. And we’ll look forward to more updates on the site with you about your stuff.
[00:18:07:16 – 00:18:10:08]
All right.
[00:18:10:08 – 00:18:18:14]
Sounds good. And we ought to get together. I’m going to try and get to the wheel on this Saturday. So, Tony, you don’t have an excuse this time.
[00:18:18:14 – 00:18:20:10]
Yeah, I do. I don’t have sliders.
[00:18:20:10 – 00:18:22:11]
Oh, well, we can build some real quick.
[00:18:25:23 – 00:18:28:26]
Yeah, Mark’s going to take care of that for me, though, whenever I get the money to do it.
[00:18:28:26 – 00:18:31:25]
Cool. Detours? Yep, absolutely.
[00:18:31:25 – 00:19:05:04]
Awesome. Awesome, awesome. I was looking at his website the other day and I was really intrigued by a lot of this stuff. I was like, “Ooh, funny.” We are really getting some very exciting vendors. I mean, you know, Mark Detours has been there since the beginning. Ironman Andy, Moheida says some great front end parts, the lower control arms, upper control arms, track power, etc. We’ve got a new vendor today, Dirtbound Off-Road, and he’s got a $100 FYE for an NP-242 transfer case. Do what?
[00:19:05:04 – 00:19:07:05]
You haven’t seen that? You need to have a look.
[00:19:07:05 – 00:19:36:06]
No, and I’m buying it because I was about to get rid of that and buy a C31. Yeah, it’s a hack and tap, but we have a new vendor on and I’m going to ask him some questions because I’ve heard some things about, you know, doing the standard hack and tap. For a 231 on a 242, that isn’t the best thing to do. But this is the yoke, the drill bit, the tap, the nut, instructions, yada, yada, yada. Oh, for yours it’s more expensive.
[00:19:36:06 – 00:19:41:09]
Sorry. For the 96 and earlier, it’s like $189.
[00:19:41:09 – 00:20:24:27]
Well, good luck. What happened there? It’s because there’s a different rear housing on it, I’m sure. Exactly, because it comes with a piece that bolts on there. It’s very nice. It looks great. But yeah, there’s a couple of additional pieces, a seal and that housing part that goes on there. But yeah, have a look. It’s pretty tempting. I really wanted the Tom Wood solution, but it’s really tempting. So I’ve got to ask him some questions because it’s actually like $109 for the hack and tap, and then I would use… The thing I really like about it is being able to use a front driveshaft because that means I’ve got two driveshafts that are exactly the same. And if I trash one, I’m carrying a spare.
[00:20:26:05 – 00:20:33:20]
Yep. And you can still get home. That’s right. That’s what it’s all about. Alright man, thanks for the call. Thanks for the call and we’ll catch you on the site.
[00:20:34:22 – 00:20:35:28]
Alright, take it easy. Bye-bye.
[00:20:35:28 – 00:20:36:19]
Bye.
[00:20:36:19 – 00:20:47:07]
Okay. Yeah, that says URL removed. Raney, let me turn that on. Allow links. So anytime you guys are posting
[00:20:47:07 – 00:20:51:21]
URLs, Internet websites in chat,
[00:20:51:21 – 00:21:01:24]
unless the links are being allowed, it’s going to… To everybody else, it’s going to say URL removed. To you, on your chat screen, you’ll see the link.
[00:21:01:24 – 00:21:03:05]
So
[00:21:03:05 – 00:21:20:18]
that’s a little deceiving when you see that because you think everybody saw it, but it didn’t. It says URL removed. So Raney, if you want to send that thing back again, you can… If you want to send that link out again, you can put that in there and it’ll show up now because I’ve turned the links on.
[00:21:20:18 – 00:21:35:04]
And Scott, actually 4IV, says, “Okay, sorry guys. Didn’t mean to take up time.” You didn’t take up any time at all. That’s exactly what we’re doing tonight, is taking live calls. So I really appreciate it. It was a relief getting a call because you usually have to beg.
[00:21:35:04 – 00:21:37:02]
Yep, I see it now.
[00:21:38:14 – 00:21:40:16]
Yeah, that’s the link. Is that the link to the…
[00:21:41:26 – 00:21:43:26]
Oh, that’s the link to the post that
[00:21:43:26 – 00:21:56:04]
Dirtbound Off-Road put up about the NP-242 SIE that they have on sale. through April the 1st. Also too,
[00:21:56:04 – 00:21:57:18]
Trul
[00:21:57:18 – 00:22:07:05]
and asked, and I thought… It kind of embarrassed me a little bit. We got a brand new vendor and he’s saying, “Hey, we got an XJTalk discount.”
[00:22:09:03 – 00:22:33:23]
And Dirtbound Off-Road came up and, like a champ, posted, “Yeah.” He goes, “Let me get it set up. It’ll be XJTalk and it’ll be a 10% discount.” I mean, 10%, that’s a great discount. So, you know, if you’re not an XJTalk member, join up, get in there and look at all the goodies he has. Actually, he has a three
[00:22:33:23 – 00:22:43:20]
electric fan set up, three 10-inch fans that’s supposed to put out 4,600 CFM.
[00:22:43:20 – 00:22:51:28]
And he even has a couple of controllers that he will sell with that. Anyway, just the fans themselves are $149.
[00:22:53:21 – 00:23:01:15]
So that might be a real possibility for my Jeep because I’ve been trying to get
[00:23:01:15 – 00:23:05:15]
my cooling problem on the highway.
[00:23:06:20 – 00:23:15:20]
The little heating issue I have, the little overheating issue I’ve been having. And that might very well solve it. I think 2,900 CFM is what you need
[00:23:15:20 – 00:23:30:08]
if you’re going to be changing to electric fans. So I think 4,600 would be probably what I need. Well, Rene Arguinard from Scott says, “Stop driving on the highway.” It’s a daily driver, Scott.
[00:23:31:23 – 00:23:38:26]
You guys don’t understand. I don’t have money to spend on additional vehicles. I have to take very good care of what I’ve got.
[00:23:38:26 – 00:23:39:21]
So
[00:23:39:21 – 00:23:53:05]
every time I go out off-road, I really enjoy it. But every time I go off-road, I’m wondering what it is that I’m going to break and how much is it going to cost me. I mean, I’d be hard-pressed to buy another tire.
[00:23:53:05 – 00:24:02:00]
So I have to be very cautious about it. That’s another reason why I talk about sliders. Well, Rene’s called in on Skype. Let’s bring him on.
[00:24:02:00 – 00:24:02:26]
Hey, Rene.
[00:24:02:26 – 00:24:08:12]
Hey, Tony, what’s up? And if you haven’t already, turn down your computer.
[00:24:08:12 – 00:24:16:08]
I shut it off. Okay. I want to say turn down your radio, but that’s from the old days, the old talk shows that I used to listen to.
[00:24:16:08 – 00:24:29:01]
So what’s up? I mean, this is for you guys that weren’t aware, we had a show last night, a little quickly put together show, and Rene and Wayne both called in on that one. So this is two days in a row for Rene.
[00:24:29:01 – 00:24:30:27]
Yeah, I know, and poor Wayne.
[00:24:30:27 – 00:24:37:20]
I don’t understand. How come I can understand all the reporters over there? But I can’t understand what he says. He’s a New Zealand hillbilly.
[00:24:39:29 – 00:24:54:03]
He’s the redneck from New Zealand. You know, it’d be a lot more funny if he was here, where he could hear that and react to it. Oh, I know. Well, he shows to be on Skype, but I’ve tried to text him a couple times and he hasn’t answered. Yeah, there’s no telling what’s going on over there. Hopefully it’s
[00:24:54:03 – 00:25:10:28]
nothing bad. I mean, I think they’re just nervous about things that are going on. Of course, I remember him saying this coming weekend, they’re looking at the moon man, the non-scientific moon man is calling for another major quake this weekend there in Christchurch, New Zealand. So
[00:25:10:28 – 00:25:12:11]
we will see.
[00:25:13:14 – 00:25:14:19]
Hopefully they won’t have it.
[00:25:15:22 – 00:25:27:14]
I tell you what, with all these, with the big quake there at Christchurch, and the two big quakes at Christchurch, and now the 9.0 in Japan, you know, my goodness, it kind of makes you wonder what the
[00:25:27:14 – 00:25:28:08]
going on.
[00:25:30:15 – 00:25:48:20]
Of course, there was the one in Sumatra in 2004. I mean, a quarter of a million people died. And I’d heard reports, early on I heard reports that in Japan they were suspecting that there might be close to 90,000 killed in that quake. That’s horrible.
[00:25:49:26 – 00:25:51:19]
Well, you know what’s pretty amazing about all that?
[00:25:51:19 – 00:25:57:19]
The natives over in Somalia, when that tsunami was coming in, the natives run like
[00:25:57:19 – 00:26:03:12]
for the highest quakes they could get. All the tourists are walking up from the beach going, “Ooh, look at that new fishy!”
[00:26:03:12 – 00:26:14:12]
Well, if you think about it, the tourists don’t have any idea. I mean, especially if they’re from California. I mean, what do you have to expect from California earthquakes? I mean, generally speaking, it’s a little rumble and that’s it.
[00:26:14:12 – 00:26:26:08]
Well, that’s true, but you would think they’d have enough sense as a human being to know if the water goes rushing out, it’s going to come back.
[00:26:27:12 – 00:26:50:10]
My wife was showing me, I forget what she was watching on the U-verse, but she stopped it and wanted me to watch. And basically this little girl and her family were on vacation over in Sumatra, and Tahiti, I guess, is where they were actually. And she saw all the warning signs. She had just learned about it in school,
[00:26:50:10 – 00:27:19:07]
and they were on the beach. And she sees the foam in the water, the water going out, and the two adult parents, and her siblings are all there on the beach. And she sees these warning signs and says, “Hey, I learned about this at school. There’s a tidal wave coming.” And they’re like, “Yeah, yeah, yeah.” And she says, “No, we need to leave.” And I think they made it to safety with about just a few minutes’ despair,
[00:27:19:07 – 00:27:23:20]
and they almost certainly would have been killed, the entire family.
[00:27:23:20 – 00:27:42:16]
So it’s not that people can’t recognize there’s a problem. Most of the time when people see something unusual, they go, “Ooh, look at that.” I mean, as I was telling my girls, that whenever you see something unusual, think about it. What could this mean?
[00:27:43:16 – 00:28:05:20]
I mean, we saw it here recently on the Japan tsunami. There were people – you remember that scene where the boats were going under the roadway? It was cars and boats. I mean, huge boats. And there was cars driving on the bridge, which I understand – what are you going to do? You’re driving, and you need to keep driving. The thing I couldn’t understand were the people standing on the bridge, watching everything going on.
[00:28:07:28 – 00:28:12:07]
Well, have you had a chance to watch that video that I posted last night? I didn’t see it.
[00:28:12:07 – 00:28:24:18]
Oh, it’s in the chapel section under the Japan quake, or Japanese quake? I’ll have a little look. I couldn’t remember where you put that, because we talked about two different places.
[00:28:24:18 – 00:28:27:23]
I think I must sound like
[00:28:27:23 – 00:28:36:06]
to them over there. Scott just asked me if I was taking a crap. Well, it sounds like you’re typing on the keyboard, and the typing is really loud.
[00:28:36:06 – 00:28:38:12]
Well, there must be this real sense of, like,
[00:28:38:12 – 00:28:46:13]
“Not bad for $17, huh?” I mean, everything sounds fine now. Does it sound fine to you guys? Yeah, he’s whacking it, yeah.
[00:28:49:15 – 00:29:01:15]
Dude, I don’t type. I’m a one-finger-on-each-hand typer. You guys have seen the gopher thing, where you take the hammer and you try to hit the head of the gopher? Well, weenie’s got a big hammer for the keys, and that’s how he types. Wap, wap, wap, wap.
[00:29:01:15 – 00:29:20:10]
Yeah, pretty much. Typing in English and all that is not my favorite subject. Well, we’re glad that you stick with it, because we always get some interesting posts. And you get the job done, and actually you get quite a few posts on there, so really appreciate that.
[00:29:20:10 – 00:29:25:10]
Yeah, I don’t even know how many posts I’m up to anymore. I absolutely never look at that stuff.
[00:29:25:10 – 00:29:29:08]
Even in the newsletters, can’t you send out? Unfortunately, I don’t even look at it again.
[00:29:29:08 – 00:29:38:07]
Yeah, you know the thing that surprised me, down at the bottom of the forums page, is the top chatters, the top chat box chatters.
[00:29:38:07 – 00:29:43:28]
And I was real surprised that Dalton 4×4 is by far the leader.
[00:29:43:28 – 00:29:46:10]
Oh, by super far.
[00:29:48:13 – 00:29:56:09]
It’s like, let me see here, I’m going to go to it real quick since I’m sitting here looking at it. It’s like he’s a thousand over everybody. Yeah, I was amazed.
[00:29:56:09 – 00:29:58:29]
And I figured he was talking to Jamie.
[00:30:00:16 – 00:30:10:09]
But Jamie’s post, well he may be, but Jamie’s post chat box counts weren’t nearly as high as his. So he must be a real one-sided conversation.
[00:30:10:09 – 00:30:16:03]
Yeah, no joke. She’s a different person there. Very interesting.
[00:30:16:03 – 00:30:22:01]
Let’s see, I haven’t updated it. Let me refresh the page here and I can see what the chat counts are.
[00:30:22:01 – 00:30:24:09]
Yeah, I’m looking at that. I don’t see it. How come?
[00:30:24:09 – 00:30:32:03]
I found throne, I found… Yeah, it’s right above where the egg avatar statistics are.
[00:30:33:04 – 00:30:41:22]
Jeep Cherokee form XJTox statistics. The best chatters are 4×4 Dalton. 15,030.
[00:30:43:16 – 00:30:49:13]
And the next highest is BigGym350 with 9,106.
[00:30:49:13 – 00:30:54:21]
So that’s a delta of over 5,000
[00:30:54:21 – 00:31:06:04]
chats. So this isn’t characters, guys. This is… well at least my understanding is that’s the number of lines, you know, semi-types in hello, my name is Dalton. Inner. That’s a chat.
[00:31:06:04 – 00:31:06:27]
Right.
[00:31:06:27 – 00:31:10:10]
Well you know what I was going to say about Jamie.
[00:31:10:10 – 00:31:13:17]
Sometimes on chat she gets kind of whiny.
[00:31:13:17 – 00:31:54:07]
They’re trying to be nice about it. But on Facebook all of her posts are actually pretty cool. It’s like, I don’t get it. Well there’s an interactive nature to… if you’re sending something like an email or something, you have time to think about what it is that you’re doing. You’re writing. You’re not just reacting. And in the chat room it’s almost like talking. And you know how some people put their foot in their mouth a lot whenever they talk? And they may be perfectly fine if they did an email or so on and so forth. So it could be that. I just think that it might be that whenever you’re sending something that you’re going to take time and type it in and hit enter, then you have more time to think about it.
[00:31:54:07 – 00:31:55:22]
Yeah, that’s probably it.
[00:31:55:22 – 00:32:05:13]
I don’t know. I mean, I generally… if it comes to my mind, it comes out of my fingertips or on Facebook or wherever. I don’t generally have a big filter between brain and mouth.
[00:32:06:24 – 00:32:15:06]
Well I’m sure that’s gotten you into as much trouble as it gets me into. Oh no, never. Yeah, Jamie Lynn only has 2,919.
[00:32:15:06 – 00:32:26:29]
So, oh hey, you know, I just realized the most recent thing you’ve done… well you did a lot of repairs to your Jeep. Is everything in working order now?
[00:32:28:00 – 00:32:45:11]
I will definitely know come Friday. Oh you can tell. You can tell by driving it if it feels right. Yeah, so far it seems fine. You know what I was telling y’all? My lower arms off my Rough Country kit, the bushings are wiped out. Really? And I noticed it when I started doing them, when I put them tubular uppers on it.
[00:32:45:11 – 00:32:58:00]
And I called Jason over at Rough Country and you know they sent me an entire new arm. I didn’t get bushings. I’ve got 2 brand new arms from Rough Country. My goodness.
[00:32:58:00 – 00:33:07:29]
They do some great customer service. I wonder if, I think they’ve always been like this but I’m kind of wondering if they’re running a little scared because of Rubicon Express.
[00:33:07:29 – 00:33:13:14]
Well you know, yes or no. Jason told me a little bit of behind all that. What had happened,
[00:33:13:14 – 00:33:15:02]
Rubicon Express
[00:33:15:02 – 00:33:18:11]
was one of the first people to do a lot of the lift kits like this.
[00:33:19:11 – 00:33:48:10]
when the economy went to crap, a lot of people started buying Rough Country because that’s all you could afford. I mean, let’s see here. You have a 4 inch Rubicon Express lift kit that’s $1000. You can get this one for $500 over here at Rough Country. When you only have $750 to spend, you’re going to buy the $500 kit. So that’s what everybody was doing. And then when they got the Rough Country kit, they realized, “Holy crap! You know what? This is a pretty good kit.”
[00:33:49:16 – 00:34:04:12]
And then when the money started coming back in, they were still going, you know. Of course they, like you and I, and Big Jim and all of us at Run Rough Country, all of us bragged about it to everybody who will listen. And that goes a long ways.
[00:34:04:12 – 00:34:34:10]
Well you know, I trust yours and Jim’s and Scott’s opinion. And when we go off road and you tell me my Jeep is doing well, that it’s articulating well and going through things, you know, that’s all I have to go by. I mean, I just have the one Jeep. My experience is with the one Jeep. And as far as suspension system goes, it’s Rough Country. I mean, the only other vehicle I had was an 83 pickup. And I think that it was a
[00:34:34:10 – 00:34:35:20]
Rancho
[00:34:35:20 – 00:35:00:07]
kit. But I mean, that was leaf springs on the front. So it’s kind of a totally different animal. And it was a full-size truck too. And so the articulation was, you know, was it pronounced properly? I mean, I had no idea. So as far as I can tell, the Rough Country lift is great. Now the only thing I can tell from what people talk about is the Rubicon Express stuff has a much better ride.
[00:35:00:07 – 00:35:31:26]
That it’s a little, that maybe the stuff is a little softer so that whenever you’re on the road, or I guess even if you’re off road, if it’s very bumpy, you’re not going to feel those bumps as much. Now in my one-dimensional head about off-roading, or even on road with a lifted vehicle, what do I care about with the ride? I don’t have back problems. It’s a, it’s a, God, I want to say big gemstone word, it’s a four-wheel drive. Come on. Exactly. If I wanted to drive, if I wanted to ride like a Cadillac, I’d buy a
[00:35:31:26 – 00:35:40:03]
Cadillac. And, and the Cadillac is a great explanation for how I view Rubicon Express, Rubicon Express prices.
[00:35:40:03 – 00:35:43:04]
Because that’s what it is, Cadillac prices.
[00:35:43:04 – 00:36:06:26]
Yeah. And you know, everybody who has Rubicon Express loves it. And I have no experience with them whatsoever under any, any of my vehicles. So I can’t say I’ve had tough country. I’ve had, this is my second time to deal with rough country. I’ve had a full Ranchero suspension. I’ve had Superlift. I’ve had
[00:36:06:26 – 00:36:08:01]
Skyjacker.
[00:36:08:01 – 00:36:12:05]
And I’ll tell you what, out of everybody’s lift kit I’ve had so far,
[00:36:12:05 – 00:36:24:29]
have, I’ve had more problems out of my rough country. I will say that. I’ve had two shocks go bad. I’ve had the lower arms, you know, the bushings go bad. And that’s let, you know, about a year’s time.
[00:36:24:29 – 00:36:26:21]
But, well, you would beat the
[00:36:26:21 – 00:36:28:05]
out of it too. Oh yeah, I beat the
[00:36:28:05 – 00:36:37:21]
out of my Jeep. I’m never going to deny that. But in the same breath, yes, I’ve had problems, but they’ve never, ever, ever given me one ounce of,
[00:36:37:21 – 00:36:50:08]
you know, why this, that, you know, blah, blah, blah, about repair, repairing it or replacing something. They just send it to me. No questions asked. No, no, they treated me the same way with my bent track bar. So
[00:36:50:08 – 00:37:07:08]
yeah, I’m with you on that. It’s like, you know what? You know, you could use the same thing to use an auto zone. Well, yeah, I put my starter in there and it went bad and they gave me a new one. But the kitches I’ve done with auto zone, I put the starter in there and never started the frigging car. So, you know, I beat the
[00:37:07:08 – 00:37:16:15]
out of my Jeep. I wouldn’t expect anybody’s lift kit to live under what I’ve done to my Jeep. Well, this is like the same discussion we were having about the winches the other day on the site.
[00:37:17:23 – 00:37:36:03]
And I, the only thing that makes me nervous about a cheap winch is I don’t have experience with it. Now, indirectly, I have experience with a cheap winch. So you’re typing again. Where’s the microphone, by the way?
[00:37:36:03 – 00:38:27:20]
On my ear. I mean, it’s like a headphone set. Wow. My goodness. I thought that might be a desk mounted thing or something because that, that typing is probably as loud as you are. That’s amazing. Anyway, I don’t, I have experience with the cheap winch through seeing what you’ve done with yours. And when we’ve been off road together and, and of course the stuff that I see that you put up on the site. So I feel a little better about it, but I haven’t gone through the same stuff. And I think that’s what with the rough country, that’s where I am as far as I don’t mind the potential problems with the rough country. Because I’ve gone out and done some, some fairly rough things with mine. And yeah, I bent something, but it took me six months to figure out that I’ve been it. And it’s not because I’m dumb. It’s because it just turned the steering wheel a little bit. And I went home and just did the steering wheel and I’ve been driving it. So.
[00:38:30:01 – 00:38:31:18]
No, Scott, I’m not licking the mic.
[00:38:33:27 – 00:39:37:07]
Hey, Scott, you asked me a question. No, I do not have my proof of purchase on my rough country anymore. But every time I give them my phone number, they know they find me in the system and that’s all they ever asked for. They’ve never asked for a picture. They’ve never asked for me to return a part. Nothing. They’ve always just said, Hey man, we’ll take care of it. That was in the mail. That was a little different from me, Scott. Actually, the guy that I spoke with, I think his name was Chris. He joined XJ talk the same day that I spoke with him or chatted with him online. He wanted a receipt and he wanted the picture. And I was able to provide both those things within five minutes because I had the electronic receipt. So, so yeah, they wanted both those things. Well, true, Tony, but I bought mine straight from rough country. I didn’t buy it through a distributor. Gotcha. That might make that might be a difference that might make the difference. We’d have to check with probably Ron at a full rolling plus.com. He’d be able to tell us how they handle that.
[00:39:37:07 – 00:40:08:14]
Well, by the way, Tony, I was going to just tell you all my winch issue was not my solenoid. I melted the battery cable and I melted the battery total off of it. Really? Yeah. I found that the other day when I was good, when I was fixing the winch, I had actually pulled the cable loose and as I was pulling it to lose, I noticed what I had done. So yeah, I have all things. So, so as of right now, my winch has never given you one ounce of phones. So what exactly, what exactly burned off where the, where it was connected to the battery?
[00:40:08:14 – 00:40:16:22]
Where it was connected to the battery. What I had done, I run, I have aftermarket cables on my Optima battery like everybody else. And you know how they have the
[00:40:16:22 – 00:40:31:15]
spot where you can open it up, two 716s nuts, you open it up and you put the cable in there and you tighten them down? Well, I don’t use that. I actually use the bolts and put new ends on my cables and tighten them in the bolts. One of them ends that literally melted off.
[00:40:31:15 – 00:40:57:02]
Well, that’s interesting. It’s, you know, when I was watching the video, which by the way, the video of Rene Opt recovering the flipped XJ, he actually recovered it the opposite way that it went in. So he did it tail over nose. Anyway, that video is up on xjtalk.com. And if you, you really can’t see much with it,
[00:40:57:02 – 00:41:28:20]
but if you watch the lights on Rene’s Jeep, you can tell as that, as that winch was under, under load because his lights would dim about 50% of what they were prior to that load. And it’s a cycling bright dim, bright dim, bright dim. So actually you probably could have, you could actually, you could have had a fire. You were running, pulling so many amps through that cable. You’re actually lucky it burned where it burned. I mean, basically what you had was a big
[00:41:28:20 – 00:41:31:01]
fuse there that started melting.
[00:41:31:01 – 00:42:21:28]
Right. But also do remember that my winch has done that ever since I’ve put the remote in it and I cannot figure out why it’s doing it. It doesn’t under load. It does it without being under load. It doesn’t matter. It’s still like, you know, when she goes, eh, eh, eh. It just has done it since day one. Even, even the people at Smittybilt, the technical guys at Smittybilt cannot explain to me why my winch does that with the remote on it. Do you still have the wired remote? Yes, I have the wired. If I run the wired, it works perfectly normal, but with my just little remote, it does that. And it’s just something that I deal with. And I mean, it’s never given me one ounce of problems because of it. And I don’t care if it does that. I mean, Well, I wonder if we could get big Jeep, big Jeep and his friend back there to flip that Jeep back over and we could try it with the wired remote and see if you had the same problem.
[00:42:23:11 – 00:42:25:16]
Well, you know, what’s funny is the very, that
[00:42:25:16 – 00:42:48:26]
following weekend, the weekend of Mudfest, I actually had a turn of Samurai over. I had a, I had a recovery to pull the Samurai back on its wheels. So yeah, two in like less than a week. Hey, speaking of turning over a Samurai did, did, I think there was some chat on the poster or two on the XJTalks site about the cover of the Quadratec catalog.
[00:42:48:26 – 00:43:02:17]
And I didn’t catch it. I was just looking at the Jeep and actually that bumper that’s on the Jeep. But the young lady that is the model that is pretending to winch out a vehicle, that vehicle they’re winching out, I guess is an H3 Hummer.
[00:43:02:17 – 00:43:06:16]
It sure is. I like that little dig. That’s kind of cool.
[00:43:09:11 – 00:43:33:22]
Yeah, that was pretty fun. You know, I don’t guess I’m almost certain they don’t have any Hummer parts in there, do they? I mean, they have a grill that looks like the grill that goes on a Hummer that they sell for a Jeep. And personally, I think anybody that does that should be beaten. But you know that, you know, that course that kind of goes against my rule of, you know, whatever you want to do, it’s your vehicle. It’s still putting, making a, an XJ look like a Hummer. It’s a sacrilege to me.
[00:43:33:22 – 00:43:34:22]
Yeah, it’s kind of
[00:43:36:26 – 00:43:39:24]
But I bet me and big Jim know some people that’d be willing to do that, don’t we Jim?
[00:43:39:24 – 00:43:42:02]
I know you’re out there somewhere. Yeah, he’s there.
[00:43:42:02 – 00:43:43:12]
Let’s see that he joined.
[00:43:43:12 – 00:44:02:13]
Well, Raney, you want to stick on here and try to answer some of these questions. I’ve got the questions that people submitted for our performance distributor FireWire 4.0 kit giveaway. And I thought I’d play them on tonight’s show, at least as many as we can, and try to answer them. They’ve been waiting quite a while for answers.
[00:44:02:13 – 00:44:06:07]
Yeah, I was, you know, some of them are actually pretty cool. And
[00:44:06:07 – 00:44:11:29]
I’ve got to admit, I voted for the ones I thought were the best. But
[00:44:11:29 – 00:44:22:13]
with, with, uh, Ordins, I don’t know how to pronounce his name. I think it’s Orderedeen, just because it’s O-R-D-E-R-D-E-N, or D-E-N-E. So I think it’s Orderedeen.
[00:44:22:13 – 00:44:59:11]
Well, with Orderedeen, I give him 1 million percent props for calling in and doing what he did, knowing for a fact that English is not his language. That’s a lot. I mean, and also too, he is a subscriber, a subscriber to the site, a half a world away, or maybe even, yeah, at least half a world away, and a subscriber to the site. I mean, my gosh, what a, what a, like I was saying yesterday, very humbled, very honored to have all the subscribers, but especially one that English is not the primary language, and it’s just really cool.
[00:44:59:11 – 00:45:01:09]
You know, Tony, on something like that,
[00:45:01:09 – 00:45:07:14]
I’d be willing to bet if you put it to a vote, it would be a definitely do it. You know,
[00:45:07:14 – 00:45:26:02]
give him a consolation prize of a t-shirt or something. I mean, you know, I mean, come on. This is a guy who, he tried his dandest on the promo and the question. I mean, more props to the guys. Hey, he may not need a consolation prize. The voting’s not over.
[00:45:26:02 – 00:45:31:00]
Well, no true, but even if it doesn’t vote in his favor, I say,
[00:45:31:00 – 00:45:36:15]
“Ascillation prize” just for doing what he did. I mean, I was so impressed.
[00:45:36:15 – 00:45:46:12]
Yep. Well, one of the things we’re going to be doing here pretty soon, in fact, I was supposed to call the guy today and I didn’t get a chance. I did find a local vendor for XJ Talks stickers. So
[00:45:46:12 – 00:46:24:29]
you guys have been, have paid and have been waiting for your XJ Talks stickers. It may be coming really soon. He’s not available this Saturday. It’s going to have to be Saturday for me to pick him up because it’s over here in West Houston. And I can’t drive from North Houston and get to West Houston in time, but so probably the Saturday following this one, I should be able to go pick him up. I want to get a couple of samples and there also might be a possibility for some really large logo type with, you know, the yellow, the red and the black, like you see on top of the top page of the website.
[00:46:24:29 – 00:46:31:21]
Some really large XJ Chalk logos. I did get a price on the 4x10s
[00:46:31:21 – 00:47:06:19]
that were for 1550. So I’m hoping that something twice that size might be in the 30 to 40 dollar range. And it basically would take up most of your rear quarter panel window. So I’m going to get some from my Jeep. And if you guys are interested in that, I mean, I understand you have to have a great love of XJ Talk to put something that big on your Jeep. But I’ll certainly be willing to get some if you guys are willing to stick it on your Jeep.
[00:47:06:19 – 00:47:16:27]
But I do need to get a price and I don’t know what his limit is as far as how big an image he can make. I think they do car wraps over there, so I don’t think he’s got a limit.
[00:47:16:27 – 00:48:22:09]
I like XJ wraps. Question. What about a banner for the windshield? Yeah, I was just getting ready to say it wouldn’t be I don’t know how that would look. I don’t know what the font would be or I mean, I’m certainly open to suggestions. I thought about that. But as far as it wouldn’t be the circle with the XJT and it wouldn’t I wouldn’t think anyway, it would be like the logo on the site on the website. So it would have to be something different. And actually, Andy Ironman Andy had asked me because in this race that he was just in, he asked my permission to print up a large XJ Talk sticker so he could put on his his Jeep during the drive. And I thought that was very nice of him to offer that we didn’t get it worked out, but he was he was trying to do that. So yeah, a banner for the window would be fine. I just if you guys want to come up with some ideas about how that would look. Sure, I’d be happy to talk to the guy at the vinyl sign place about getting some made.
[00:48:22:09 – 00:48:28:16]
Well, let me before we get too far down the road on this list. Let’s get some questions up before we run out of time.
[00:48:29:21 – 00:49:38:10]
So this first question, I mean, we just spoke about order Dean. So let’s let’s put up his question. I may have to translate this for you guys. We can try playing it a couple of times. So here is order Dean’s question for the firewire giveaway. And of course, you can listen to it on XJ Talk and please vote on there so that we can select a winner for that kit. Voting will continue through Wednesday of next week. And then if then we’ll vote on what’s the best of best promo best question of the two and then whoever whoever wins that vote wins the prize. So anyway, here’s order Dean’s question. And if you don’t know, or Dean is a Mongolia resident. So that’s why I say half a world away. I mean, it may be further than half a world. I guess it depends on which which way you go east or west. How many different colors of XJs we have here at XJ Talk? So he’s asking how many different color XJs do we have on XJ Talk? How many different colors of XJs we have here at XJ Talk? Well, I know we have red.
[00:49:38:10 – 00:49:43:05]
We have red, green, black, orange. No, I don’t know about those. I know we have red.
[00:49:46:04 – 00:49:47:24]
There’s a lot of green ones though. There really is.
[00:49:47:24 – 00:49:48:13]
Yeah.
[00:49:48:13 – 00:49:51:15]
What are the colors? Red, green, black, blue.
[00:49:51:15 – 00:49:53:14]
Who has a blue one?
[00:49:55:09 – 00:49:59:26]
I don’t think he’s been on in a while. I just saw on the albums today. Who is it?
[00:50:00:28 – 00:50:04:27]
Mick, not Bick-Nugget, Mick-Rob, Mick-Rod.
[00:50:04:27 – 00:50:07:21]
Who has a white one? Punisher? Paul? Well,
[00:50:07:21 – 00:50:09:21]
Glenn has a white one.
[00:50:09:21 – 00:50:14:23]
Oh, that’s right. Glenn has a white one. So we definitely have white. Got a beautiful 98 white one.
[00:50:14:23 – 00:50:19:09]
Well, he actually drives his worse than you do.
[00:50:19:09 – 00:50:27:05]
Or I shouldn’t say worse. I should say more aggressive. I had no idea that a Cherokee could go that far to the side without flipping.
[00:50:27:05 – 00:50:28:22]
I mean, oh my God.
[00:50:30:05 – 00:50:30:15]
Okay.
[00:50:32:13 – 00:50:32:00]
Huh?
[00:50:32:23 – 00:50:39:08]
Oh, I know. Has anybody seen or heard from Red Dragon since for the last six months?
[00:50:39:08 – 00:50:43:12]
No. Yeah. XJ4IV says Scott Red Dragon.
[00:50:43:12 – 00:50:48:23]
Yeah, I don’t know what happened to him. He was pretty into what was going on.
[00:50:48:23 – 00:50:55:06]
I don’t know. I don’t know if he’s still working out at HP or not. I haven’t heard or seen anything from him.
[00:50:55:06 – 00:51:01:05]
Well. Yeah, there’s tan because Scott painted his tan. Of course, orange from OrangeXJ.
[00:51:01:05 – 00:51:03:16]
What’s OrangeXJ’s first name?
[00:51:03:16 – 00:51:04:29]
Greg. Greg?
[00:51:04:29 – 00:51:05:17]
Yep.
[00:51:06:24 – 00:51:21:11]
And gosh, I mean, I can’t. There’s all kinds. There’s yellow. I mean, XJ Jeep thing hasn’t been on a while, but he’s got a yellow one. Steph has a multicolored one, which includes yellow.
[00:51:21:11 – 00:51:29:27]
I think the only color we don’t have is the purple one that your friend has. Purple, that Barney Purple. Yep. Yep, the Barney Purple.
[00:51:29:27 – 00:51:33:18]
But there’s a lot of green ones. Yep, there’s a lot of green. And of course,
[00:51:33:18 – 00:51:40:02]
Big Jim had a green one there for a while. I was just noticing he’s not on anymore.
[00:51:40:02 – 00:51:45:29]
He still has a green one. No, I just noticed he wasn’t in the chat room. He’s not on the show anymore. Oh,
[00:51:45:29 – 00:51:49:21]
yeah, but he still has a green Jeep. He still has the green XJ.
[00:51:49:21 – 00:51:51:13]
He painted it.
[00:51:51:13 – 00:51:54:23]
It’s green. He painted it green. Painted it back green?
[00:51:54:23 – 00:52:00:24]
No, it’s painted it all of the color green. It’s a different color green. Right. Gotcha. Okay.
[00:52:00:24 – 00:52:20:08]
Okay, let’s go to another question here. So really, the question about how many different colors, I don’t… gosh, I guess we’d actually have to write it down and add it up to be able to answer Ordein’s question there properly. Here is a question from Gumby1220.
[00:52:20:08 – 00:52:41:19]
Hi, this is Gumby1220 on xjtalk.com. I’m calling from Houston, Texas. My question is, if you guys were thinking about adding a thread on a how to convert a two-wheel drive to a four-wheel drive, I haven’t found any straightforward answers online. All right, that’s my question. Thank you.
[00:52:41:19 – 00:53:15:10]
Now, I think Blue XJ has actually done this as far as doing the conversion. But I… Did you get it? Blue XJ, a moderator. Oh, okay. Well, I know Matt’s going to do it, so yes. Yeah. The answer to that question is, there isn’t anything in writing yet, but it will be done when Matt does his G. Yeah, that’s one of the reasons why I was asking Matt the other day. I can’t remember if I was on the Facebook chat with him or on xjtalk chat, “Hey, are you going to take pictures and do a write-up on that?” Hint, hint. He says, “Sure!”
[00:53:17:01 – 00:53:54:13]
And that’s not a… I don’t know if you guys have done that, where you actually perform work on your Jeep and you take pictures and you try to take the pictures in such an order and in such a way where you know it’s going to make sense, how you’re going to be able to explain it in a post. It’s a lot of work. It takes a lot longer to do what you’re trying to do to the Jeep. So hats off to all these guys anytime they take pictures and share that information with us on the website because it’s not an easy thing. It’s much easier just to get through the job and not have to worry about the additional task of setting up the shot and make sure the lighting’s right and keeping the grease off the $300 phone, you know?
[00:53:55:17 – 00:54:01:21]
Yeah, you know what? The one I just did with taking the doors off, as I was writing it up, I realized,
[00:54:01:21 – 00:54:03:11]
I should have took that picture.
[00:54:03:11 – 00:54:34:02]
I should have taken that picture.” It’s way, way, way hard. As a matter of fact, the picture I took that I said, “If you see right here where I ground this down, it makes it easier to put the door in,” I went out and took that picture after I was completely done. That happens a lot and there’s nothing wrong with that, you know, because you’re doing it and writing it up or, you know, documentation is a pain, this period, because it’s much easier to do than it is to write about it. At least I think that’s the case for most of us.
[00:54:35:06 – 00:54:40:25]
You know, there are people out there that are probably better documenters than there are mechanics, but… (Inaudible)
[00:54:41:29 – 00:54:57:28]
But yeah, it’s a difficult task. Okay, so to answer your question, Gumby1220, there is not, as you’re aware of, there is not a write-up on that, but there will be shortly. I mean, Matt M.S. Mornberg, he’s planning on doing that pretty soon, isn’t he?
[00:54:57:28 – 00:54:58:21]
Yes.
[00:54:58:21 – 00:55:26:09]
Well, the front axle’s in, the lift’s on, we’re going to pull the transmission and transfer case out of the other Jeep and get ready to install it. Oh, he already has the Dana 30 in the front then? Yeah, the Dana 30’s been in it since he bought it. Oh, okay, gotcha. Well, at least when I would, you know, look at the Jeep and shake my head about, “No, it’s a two-wheel drive, it’s beneath me to even think about waving at,” so I would be fooled. I would see the pump getting, “Oh, for what drive? Hey, how you doing?”
[00:55:26:09 – 00:55:45:24]
Okay, so, because I am a Jeep snob. Okay, so let’s see, let’s go to Dalton4by4’s question. This is also another firewire question, submission for the firewire contest. Hi, this is 4×4 Dalton from Virginia. I was wondering, I’m getting ready to put the lift on my X-J,
[00:55:45:24 – 00:55:49:02]
and what are the possible signs of a death wobble,
[00:55:49:02 – 00:55:51:15]
and what are
[00:55:51:15 – 00:55:53:26]
the best fixes for a death wobble
[00:55:53:26 – 00:55:55:18]
in y’all’s mind?
[00:55:55:18 – 00:55:56:12]
Thank you much.
[00:55:56:12 – 00:56:35:19]
Really simple, Tony. What are the possible signs of a death wobble? When you get it, you will never, ever, ever forget it. Well, you fear of death. You think you’re going to die. The steering wheel will jerk left to right, out of your hand. I mean, you’ll be going 55 or so, and you will come to a stop to make it go away. Oh, yeah. You will never forget it once you get it. I’ve never… And the way to fix it, replace all the wore-out crap. The only way to fix it. Yeah, it really is. Bushings, track bar, knuckles, I mean, I guess the… What do you call the things on the knuckles?
[00:56:35:19 – 00:56:47:12]
The ball joints. Yeah, the ball joints on the knuckles, it can be a problem, correct me if I’m wrong on this, but it’s all that stuff on the front end that gets old and can get loose.
[00:56:47:12 – 00:56:50:27]
I would say… Yeah, I’m sorry. Go ahead, Tony. No, no, go ahead.
[00:56:50:27 – 00:57:57:22]
I would say, out of everything that I’ve read, and everything I’ve seen, and everything I’ve experienced myself, the number one cause of death wobble is a bad track bar, or something in the track bar system. Right, the bushing or… And really the stabilizer doesn’t do that much as far as curing death wobble. So I think a lot of people, they look at that and they say, “Oh, there’s a shock there,” and the way it’s connected, that must be there to stop the death wobble. I think it helps, but it will not cure it. I don’t think you can put a big enough one on there to stop it. You have to look at the bushings. Really, if you have a three foot long screwdriver or a crowbar, you get under your front end and you start pressing on the front end parts, the track bar, the tie rod, all that stuff, and you see what moves. Be careful what you’re doing, of course, because you can do a lot of damage, but you try to move that thing. And if you get… And I think this is true, just a fraction of an inch movement is enough to cause death wobble. So
[00:57:57:22 – 00:58:02:29]
if you do one tie rod end and it doesn’t move, and you do the other tie rod end and it moves a sixteenth of an inch,
[00:58:02:29 – 00:58:11:16]
you probably need to… Replace it. Yeah, you probably need to replace that tie rod. I mean, we’re not talking about a lot of movement here for something to be bad.
[00:58:11:16 – 00:58:23:23]
Tony, would I tell everybody, if you see any movement in any of the tie rods, replace them. Yes. Do not play games with them. Well, it’s not worth having a rollover on a highway because you’re a tie rod end brook.
[00:58:23:23 – 00:58:32:06]
I do want to read something that Scott just put up here. Sure. And I love this. “A sign of death wobble can easily be found in your underwear.” That sums it up.
[00:58:32:06 – 00:58:40:08]
Well, if you’re an improper wiper, it may not be… Skid marks might be normal. You have to check with your wife and let her…
[00:58:41:11 – 00:58:43:03]
Honey, is this normal?
[00:58:44:18 – 00:58:51:03]
Well, I don’t think it’s the skid marks that you’re concerned about with death wobble. It’s the lumps. Yeah, it’s the lumps in there.
[00:58:51:03 – 00:58:55:09]
Boy, look at all that censored stuff.
[00:58:57:26 – 00:59:05:14]
They’re typing in the chat room and all I see is “Yeah,” and then “sensored yourself.” No, because you all censored yourself.
[00:59:07:16 – 00:59:11:11]
Okay, let’s go to another question here real quick. This will be from
[00:59:11:11 – 00:59:25:07]
Metlik53. Hi, XJTalk. My name is John Irwin, also known as Metlik53 on the XJTalk website. And I’m calling from Conro, Texas, calling from my job here at the Country Club.
[00:59:26:15 – 00:59:31:15]
My question is going to be Cherokee related involving the alternators on our Cherokee.
[00:59:32:15 – 00:59:40:00]
One thing I hate is that the alternators put on the bottom of our jeeps and mine got toasted the last run at Creekside. I replaced it with a
[00:59:40:00 – 00:59:49:01]
ZJ136 alternator and it’s working great now. But I’m afraid if I go back to Creekside, I may toast the 136 too.
[00:59:49:01 – 00:59:58:11]
I really love how my AC blows ice cold all year long and losing my air conditioning is not an option. But I want my alternator moved up the top.
[00:59:58:11 – 01:00:02:08]
there any way I can put my alternator up top and keep my air conditioning as well?
[01:00:02:08 – 01:00:02:28]
Thank you.
[01:00:02:28 – 01:00:51:17]
Well, you know, that’s a great question. And I don’t like that either. I don’t like that the alternator is down there at the bottom like that. I had very good luck with my factory alternator. I got 167,000 miles and 13 years of use out of it before I changed it. And even at that, it passed the O’Reilly’s bench test nine times. But I couldn’t think of anything else it could be. So I went ahead and got a new alternator. Now, I wish I had gone the same route as Medlec 53 did was to get the 136 amp thing. I didn’t want to mess with any possible refit of blah, blah, blah. So I just went ahead and got the replacement, which, by the way, even though my build sheet said it was 117 amp alternator, it wasn’t. It was a 90 amp alternator.
[01:00:51:17 – 01:01:21:10]
So the 90 amp alternator is running that winch, 400 watt KC lights, every other course. I’m running a few LEDs, which helps that situation. So but any I haven’t seen anybody that’s moved anything. The only thing that I can think that comes close to that is what Steve has done with the second air conditioner compressor that he’s using. As a onboard air compressor.
[01:01:21:10 – 01:01:28:23]
So Scott just put up something here that is correct. On a Wrangler, the alternator is AC compressor or change places.
[01:01:28:23 – 01:01:35:09]
The compressors on the bottom is alternators on the top. That is one way of doing it. And pretty much anything else is
[01:01:35:09 – 01:01:36:22]
you’re going to fabricate.
[01:01:36:22 – 01:02:03:12]
Right. Well, I guess that’s what I guess that’s what Steve did running the two AC compressors side by side. But I’d have to actually go back and look at that and see how he did that. But right off hand, I’m thinking that that might work. The same type thing might work by putting the alternator right there next to the air compressor. Now, I don’t know what serpentine belt he used or how he how he made that work. But that was a really cool setup. I like that.
[01:02:03:12 – 01:02:05:05]
Yeah, I do too. But I don’t
[01:02:05:05 – 01:02:23:21]
I don’t know on the alternator if that was the easy. Is it possible? Sure. Anything is possible. Yeah. But feasible. I think the quickest, easiest way to solve it would be go to a junkyard, find you a 4.0 or 2.5 or whatever mode you have in there. Get the entire
[01:02:23:21 – 01:02:50:26]
serpentine belt assembly or all the bracketry off of a Wrangler and put it on your X-ray. That would be the quickest, easiest way to solve it. Well, you can get a picture of that. That would be a neat thing, a neat little virtual project to work on if we could get a picture of a Wrangler and the brackets that are on there and see how that might be able to be swapped. That would be a pretty cool deal. Now, another thing, there’s actually two questions I would I would like to know.
[01:02:50:26 – 01:03:15:12]
He says it burnt up. I don’t know if you were out there that time when he was out there, but I don’t know how going out to Creekside would have burned up that that alternator. And I can’t. Running and underwater and muddy water. Well, I mean, we were out there in that pond quite a bit and mine was fine. I mean, my harmonic balancer came apart, but I don’t know that that was necessarily because of that sandy water.
[01:03:15:12 – 01:03:35:22]
No, he was actually, his was still running when it was under submerged in the muddy water. Okay. Well, I mean, it was like stuck and it was underwater and it’s over there going, and he killed it. Okay. Well, then my mother did the same thing. Tony, what does when my open it went out? It was because it was running under a muddy water.
[01:03:35:22 – 01:04:16:28]
Gotcha. Well, then my other question was going to be with a skid help stop that. But I guess if it’s submerged in water, then no, I guess that if you have something to keep the water out of it while you’re going through water and it’s provides a void underneath there and minimizes the water that’s in that. Might help. By the way, I’ve actually decided to I was going to try to sell my my factory skid front skid, but I’ve actually decided to go ahead and put that back on. I thought it was kind of it really doesn’t weigh that much. And I thought it was kind of silly to try to go out and spend 30 or 40 dollars for a sheet of metal and make one when I had one.
[01:04:16:28 – 01:04:22:22]
So, yeah, so I’m just going to put that back on and see if that helps the the airflow situation.
[01:04:22:22 – 01:04:27:22]
Anyway, let’s let’s try to get one more question in here before we wrap this up.
[01:04:29:17 – 01:04:32:29]
I think we’ll play.
[01:04:32:29 – 01:04:33:12]
Well, Ben.
[01:04:33:12 – 01:04:36:02]
We’ll play Weldman’s question. Here we go.
[01:04:36:02 – 01:05:05:03]
Everyone is Kurt, a.k.a. Weldon from XJ talk.com website. Got a quick question for you. How do you guys waterproof your distributors? I hit a big puddle the other day with all the melting snow up here in Wisconsin and trucks started sputtering and spitting because the distributor got doused with water. Besides using a rubber condom or the boot that slips over to distributor, which ends up holding in moisture anyway, I was wondering what you guys used and how you went about it. Look forward to your answer. Thanks.
[01:05:05:03 – 01:05:12:05]
So I guess there’s some dialectic grease and stuff that you can put in them. Can’t you isn’t there a way to waterproof the distributor?
[01:05:12:05 – 01:05:27:16]
Dialectic grease around the bottom of the distributor cap and then on all the plug wires number one, get good plug wires. You don’t have a problem with them. And if you end up do have a problem with them later on down the road, you know, the stuff that you spray on your tent, the waterproofs and the spraying shoes and everything.
[01:05:27:16 – 01:05:28:14]
Spray the
[01:05:28:14 – 01:05:31:01]
out of everything with that. It will waterproof
[01:05:31:01 – 01:05:36:16]
And Glenn XJ Rat in the chat room says VO5 hair spray.
[01:05:38:13 – 01:05:50:25]
I’m sure that would work just as well. I’m sure it’s pretty much the same stuff. And you know, I was mentioning earlier that how he drives off road. I now know how he keeps his hair in place and those radical moves.
[01:05:52:10 – 01:05:54:08]
I think you make fun of your there Glenn.
[01:05:56:11 – 01:05:57:16]
His hair was perfect.
[01:05:57:16 – 01:06:30:04]
Yeah. And any of the stuff that you would be you would be applying, I would assume that after you’ve gone through water, it would need to be reapplied if you want to make sure that it was continuing to be do continuing to do the job of waterproofing because you know, we can we could hit water pretty high speed and that’s a lot of pressure being forced up in there and it’s going to push that grease or hair spray or what else was there 3M or Scotchgard, all that stuff it could affect.
[01:06:30:04 – 01:06:34:14]
You know with the tent spray, the stuff that you spray on your tent,
[01:06:34:14 – 01:06:45:05]
I’ve done that a couple times on my Fords because they were notorious for getting water in the distributor. It would be the distributor sitting up in front right by the radiator and by the fan.
[01:06:46:10 – 01:06:53:28]
I would spray it one time and we wouldn’t have to spray it again for months. What is that stuff? I don’t know what you’re talking about.
[01:06:53:28 – 01:06:58:22]
If you go to Academy, it’s a waterproof spray that you spray on tents.
[01:06:58:22 – 01:07:17:13]
Oh, I’m thinking of window tint like the stuff that makes the glass dark. Yeah, no, no. It’s a waterproof spray that you spray on a tent. It makes your tent water more watery. You just do more waterproof. You spray that on there and it works like great. Yep, tents. Not
[01:07:17:13 – 01:07:21:10]
the female part tents and not the tinting on a window,
[01:07:21:10 – 01:07:23:20]
but the tents like you sleep in.
[01:07:23:20 – 01:07:27:28]
Okay, well we’re about 11 minutes over. What do you think? Another question or wrap it up?
[01:07:27:28 – 01:07:28:28]
That’s you.
[01:07:30:18 – 01:07:31:13]
Non-committal.
[01:07:32:13 – 01:07:32:14]
So
[01:07:32:14 – 01:07:40:27]
let’s do… I don’t think we did Dalton’s, did we? But the kit, the four-wheel drive kit, let’s do Dalton’s real quick.
[01:07:40:27 – 01:07:44:28]
We did Dalton’s. Did we do Dalton’s? Oh, that’s right. His was the death waddle. That’s right.
[01:07:46:15 – 01:07:49:06]
Who else do we have here? Well, we’ll do Green Chevy.
[01:07:49:06 – 01:07:56:08]
Hi, this is Green Chevy and I’m calling from Johnston, California. My question is, where did Chief Cherokee get it same?
[01:07:56:08 – 01:08:03:28]
That’s interesting. Does any… I forgot to look that up. Does anybody have a clue where Jeep came up with the name Cherokee?
[01:08:03:28 – 01:08:08:14]
He’s got me on that one. Don’t know. I mean, that sounds like a Winnipedia question.
[01:08:08:14 – 01:08:09:10]
Wikipedia.
[01:08:09:10 – 01:08:21:03]
Yeah, Scott, the question was, Green Chevy wanted to know, does anybody know where Jeep came up with the name Cherokee? For our
[01:08:21:03 – 01:08:31:18]
vehicles. Yeah, I’m sure it’s an Indian thing, but, you know, what was the story behind that? I mean, there’s Wrangler, there’s… I mean, there is a Comanche,
[01:08:31:18 – 01:08:36:04]
the MJ Comanche. So I can see there was, you know,
[01:08:36:04 – 01:08:41:05]
an Indian type naming convention there, but it’s kind of interesting.
[01:08:41:05 – 01:08:43:28]
I guess the Cherokees,
[01:08:43:28 – 01:08:53:06]
as a people, their warriors were brave and they were able to go anywhere and I don’t know.
[01:08:53:06 – 01:08:55:09]
I don’t know. I’m just guessing here.
[01:08:55:09 – 01:09:15:07]
Yeah, I don’t know the answer to that. That might be something worth looking up and putting it on there. I’ll have to make a post about that and see if I can get an answer and we might get as many responses as there are ideas as to how it came about. But it’s a pretty good question. Where did it come? We just accept. That’s what it is. It’s a Cherokee.
[01:09:15:07 – 01:09:24:09]
Some of us kind of think about the politically correct ramifications of said name, and you’ve got to wonder if that’s why they changed the name of the
[01:09:24:09 – 01:09:37:10]
Cherokee replacement, calling it Liberty. Of course, there’s the Patriot and so on and so forth. So it looks like they went off on a different tangent. Of course, I think that’s after the Germans bought the company.
[01:09:37:10 – 01:09:38:17]
Or do we believe?
[01:09:38:17 – 01:09:41:01]
Okay, guys, well,
[01:09:41:01 – 01:09:52:00]
Reani, I sure appreciate you calling in. I’m surprised we didn’t have more time for more calls. It’s pretty cool that two calls and
[01:09:52:00 – 01:09:55:27]
that took up over an hour. So you guys are good talkers.
[01:09:57:06 – 01:09:59:23]
Don’t imagine me stopping as good talkers. Never.
[01:10:02:00 – 01:10:08:20]
Well, I much appreciate it. It’s very welcome. I always enjoy talking to you guys, whether it’s on the show or in person or on the site.
[01:10:08:20 – 01:10:14:29]
Well, Reani, I’m going to let you go so that you can bang away at your keyboard at will. I know you’ve been trying to keep it quiet.
[01:10:16:06 – 01:10:20:17]
All right, man. I will talk to you all later. You all have a good night. Thank you. Bye-bye.
[01:10:22:28 – 01:10:43:20]
Well, guys, that’s another show and in the can, so to speak, not to be confused with any bodily functions. Hopefully, it’s better than that. And, you know, people are leaving. The show’s not over. I’m watching you. I can see you guys leaving. Who was that that left? Was that Glenn? I think that was Glenn that left.
[01:10:46:28 – 01:11:09:09]
Taking names. Well, guys, we’ve got a couple of contests going on. The FireWire contest, the entry period is over, but we are doing votes. And it would be good if you could get on there and vote for the best question and the best promo. There’s seven questions that have been submitted and there’s three promos.
[01:11:10:17 – 01:11:48:15]
Wednesday next week, we will know who the winner of those two groups are. And then if as long as it’s not the same person, if it’s two different people, then what we’ll do is we’ll do a vote on the promo, the best promo and the best question. And whoever wins that vote wins the performance distributor, FireWire kit 4.0 for the Jeep Cherokee 1991 through 98. And basically, it’s a better coil, a much, much better plug wires. And surprisingly, they’re red.
[01:11:50:01 – 01:12:08:02]
And a rotor and a distributor cap. So it’s pretty nice. It even comes with an adapter so that you can adapt the plug to the new coil. And
[01:12:08:02 – 01:12:14:25]
since I got my CPS problem lined out, I haven’t had a Lika problem with it.
[01:12:14:25 – 01:12:19:08]
I had some issues whenever I first got the kit. That’s how I wound up with two sets of parts.
[01:12:20:27 – 01:12:55:05]
And that company was good enough to let me keep them to do the giveaway. So the other contest we have, and that one’s going to be going on through, I believe the 28th is, and I’ve just drawn a blank. What is that contest? That contest is… I have no idea. I’ve drawn a blank. I was thinking about the FireWire kit. Anyway, we have a contest section, a contest forum that you can read up on those. Get in there and apply so that you can still win.
[01:12:55:05 – 01:13:31:07]
We’re on Facebook, we’re on Twitter, and of course you can catch us every day, www.xjtalk.com. Don’t forget, call in your questions and answers, or questions and promos to 530-675-4102. Everybody have a very good night and thank you very much for being here. (Music)
[01:13:33:21 – 01:13:51:12]
That’s right. Pillar lights. Detours USA. Pillar lights. A-pillar lights. And those things are sweet. Those are really nice. That’s some of the really nice work that Market Detours does. It’s a set of A-pillar light, light brackets,
[01:13:51:12 – 01:13:52:16]
and
[01:13:52:16 – 01:13:54:03]
it is…
[01:13:54:03 – 01:14:06:04]
It’s… I forget what you’ve got to do for the contest now. I am drawing a blank. I guess it’s because I’m trying too hard. So guys, have a very good night. I’ll see you later.
[01:14:06:04 – 01:14:09:25]
This is Big Jim 350 and I
[01:14:09:25 – 01:14:12:13]
love xjtalk.com.
[01:14:12:13 – 01:14:13:27]
Awwww.
[01:14:13:27 – 01:14:13:27]
