4xe in California?
So goes California, so goes the nation?
I don’t enjoy beating up on California but at times I feel I need to ring the fire bell or turn the hand crank on the tornado warning siren.
Back in August PV Magazine published a story about a proposed decision that would require apartment dwellers, or their landlords, that have solar panels and/or storage batteries, to provide this electricity to the grid. No not for free, the “grid” would have to pay for it. This is the nasty bit. Renters, multifamily housing, farms, and schools would then have to BUY the electricity from the grid at a higher rate!
Help me understand this. The Sun falls on California and therefore California owns it? Something similar is going on with groundwater. California wants to install a meter on your water well and you have to pay for the water you pump out of the ground!
In both cases California doesn’t purchase and install the solar panels and batteries, and neither do they drill the well, or even maintain it. This is one of the reasons I’m not a fan of “save the planet” You try and help the Earth by going EV and then they take any savings and turn that into more taxes for the government.
Frankly, I’d rather waste my own money on Jeep parts than have you fools use it for the government.
Toledo Jeep Plant Facing Another Strike?
Mobis contract deadline is approaching!
UAW Local 12 members of Mobis (supplying parts to Jeep) voted to strike.
Workers at the plant, which supplies completed chassis modules to Jeep’s Toledo Assembly Complex, voted overwhelmingly — 99.7% – in favor of the strike authorization, according to UAW Local 12 Mobis Chairman Jeremy Navarre.
There are 400 union autoworkers at the plant in north Toledo. They are represented by the same UAW local unit as workers at the Jeep plant.
The union’s contract with Mobis expires at 11:59 p.m., Nov. 14.
On Thursday Navarre said the recent UAW strikes against Stellantis, Ford, and General Motors that have yielded tentative agreements inspired workers at Mobis.
Jeep Talk Show Gladiator Update
It was a couple of years ago when Wendy scheduled a JTS California off-road event. 35” tires, lockers, and aftermarket skid plates were requirements based on the area where the event was going to be held.
It was a long drive, but going back to California to wheel with my own Jeep was interesting. I started looking at skids for the 2021 Jeep Talk Show Gladiator.
I already knew the quality of the Motobilt bumpers so it was natural for me to check with them about skids.
Boy was I shocked. I saw a Skid Plate System that looked like a work of art. It covered all the critical bits and was just smooth. Nothing hanging down to catch on rocks, zombies, or Priuses!
This past April I went to EJS for the first time and the Gladiator did great, but hearing the occasional scrap reminded me of the skid system.
EJS 2024 is on my list of things to go to and have fun looking at the scenery while traveling off-road. I really wanted to have these skids before then.
Motobilt is running a black friday sale NOW, those bastards! They got me. With 30% off their skid system and a $494 savings, I ordered it.
I have been watching installation videos and this system is easy to install. You take off about 85 pounds of factory skids and put on 240 pounds of Motobilt skids.
I think the only downside I have heard about full skids is dirt, rock, and mud collection.
Oh, the other downside is not having this visible for all to see, it really is a work of art. Scheduled delivery is Thursday, today.
