Jeep owners help kids fight cancer through a fundraiser in Illinois. For the 5th year this push by Jeeper for kids with cancer.

Drivers registered to ride from the Uftring Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram dealership in North Pekin to various locations in central Illinois on a circle tour throughout the afternoon.

“This is the biggest turnout that we’ve had. Last year I believe we had 179 jeeps and raised $150,000,” said Lott. “This year we had 196 cars- it’s still strong and still growing!”

The organization has raised over $130,000 so far.

Jeep Mexico Launches Wrangler

Jeep Mexico launches Wrangler Sahara Tuscadero Sky-Freedom.  This Wrangler is offered in Tuscadero with the Sky-One touch power top.

Jeep® has introduced an exclusive limited edition of its 2024 Wrangler (JL) Sahara Unlimited model to the Mexican market. The new 2024 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Tuscadero Sky-Freedom Edition is notable for its striking Tuscadero color—a deep, intense magenta—available for the first time on this model. Limited to just 100 units, this edition combines unique design elements and advanced features that set it apart from other Wrangler variants in the Mexican market.

The Jeep Wrangler Sahara Tuscadero Sky-Freedom is based on the standard 2024 Wrangler Sahara but incorporates several distinctive features. It boasts the exclusive Sky One-Touch® Power Top, an electric retractable roof designed to enhance the driving experience with greater openness. The edition also has unique wheel designs that complement its vibrant Tuscadero color.

Jeep is capitalizing on what many of us already do, making our Jeep unique but they’re doing it for us from the factory.

Jeep Wrangler Recall

30, yes 30, Jeeps recalled due to incorrect tail lights. No, they didn’t do an unauthorized taillight upgrade to Oracle, Combat Offroad, or Motobilt, these taillights are partially blocked by the massive 35” spare tire!

I had no idea that there were different taillights for the 2024 Wrangler.

Produced for the 2024 model year between March 7, 2024, and May 13, 2024, an estimated 27 units may have been equipped at the factory with the incorrect tail lights.

According to documents filed with the National Highway Safety Administration, the Wranglers in question were specified with 35-inch tires and blind spot monitoring with cross-path detection. The 35s come standard on the Rubicon 392, which is going the way of the dodo after model year 2025 as FCA US LLC transitions from V8 to inline-six muscle.

Incorrect tail lights in combination with a 35-inch spare wheel results in reduced visibility of said lamps, therefore increasing the risk of a rear-end collision. The recall condition also fails to conform with the requirements of a certain motor vehicle safety standard. FCA US LLC notes that replacement lamps aren’t currently available, but should become so during this quarter (July through September).

Dealers have already been instructed to replace the incorrect rear lamps at no charge to the customers, while owner notifications will be mailed on or about August 29, 2024. The remedy lamps feature an integrated spacer bezel. Both designs are produced by the Ventra Greenwich Holdings Corporation in the US.

Your Jeep’s insurance company?

We recently interviewed Kris, the owner of the Gladiator who was struck by a fleeing SUV in a police chase.  Kris wasn’t 100% happy, his claim is still in progress, with Farmers Insurance.

When you purchased your Jeep, especially after adding hundreds, or thousands of dollars in upgrades, did you think about what your insurance would cover, and how they would cover it?

Depending on the insurance company, I think not being as helpful, or lowballing you is standard.  Insurance companies are in this for a profit and I think many of us assume that the sky-high rates and our good choices are what makes them money.

Apparently not.  Be a good driver. Don’t part in places that flood, or have a high rate of vehicle break-ins, and paying your premiums isn’t enough.  They want you to take less than you’re owed.

And it’s not just your insurance company, maybe it’s the one the responsible party has.

I hate it when someone does something dumb, damages my stuff and it turns out they have the same insurance that I do.

Maybe it’s time to have a diffusion with your agent about your Jeep.  They’ll only tell you a part of the story.  Go online and type in “your insurance company” sucks.

Find out what they’ve done to other people.

What tire size to put on your Jeep

The question I see a lot when someone gets a Jeep is, Besides all the other decisions on what to buy, they ask “What size tires are best for my Jeep?’

The answer: What do you plan to do with your Jeep?

 1)   Easy fire roads, get off the pavement a few times a year: stay with what came with the Jeep – no sense in spending $$ – you need that for other things LOL

2)   More time off the pavement – maybe consider the type of tire AT VS MT

  1.   AT: All-terrain (or all-purpose) – good for all types of roads, rain, some snow, some mud, and dirt and they are quieter on the highway
  2.   MT: Mud terrain – good for crawling, more dirt, some mud, snow, and rain. Could be louder on the highway – an aggressive look on your jeep.

3)   All the time off the pavement – Definitely need to consider different tires than what your stock Jeep came with.

 How to decide:

1)   If you have a daily driver then keeping an all-terrain is good for better mileage and you can go off the pavement if needed

2)   If you are just going off-road, you can buy a beefier tire to benefit your crawling needs.

What size?

1)   Most newer Jeeps today come with 33’s some come with 35’s and some come with 31’s. Believe it or not, your STOCK Jeep is really capable off-road with any of these sizes.

a.  Your buddies may be running 35’, 37’s, or even 40’s.

b.  Do what you need to do – buy because it’s your plan/purpose for what you want to do off-road. NOT just because your buddy has 40’s

  1.   Bigger tires may require additional gearing. You can’t just swap out 33s for 40s and call it good – you WILL break and that will be costly.
  2.   You can upgrade from 33’s to 35’s with little effort. And I believe you can upgrade from 31’s to 33’s. A lot of this will also depend on your lift –see what happens – you go bigger and now things need to adjust.

2)   Decide what you want to do and have some fun. Maybe even run a few trails with friends and see if you NEED to change tires.

  1.   We have recommended a change from new tires when the student says they want to go off-roading more than a couple times a year and they have really standard-stock tires – but mostly you will know when it’s time to upgrade your tires. Sometimes it’s a necessity and others it’s the next step in your Jeeping adventure.

Must-Have Stuff for Your Jeep!

Quadratec.  We don’t talk about Quadratec much on the show. That isn’t because they aren’t a great resource for accessories for your Jeep.  For example,  they carry accessories for Jeep JT, JL, JK, TJ, YJ, and CJ and that’s not all.

This episode’s must-have from Quadratec is, that it ain’t sexy,

Exhaust Manifold for 91-99 Jeep Wrangler YJ & TJ; 91-99 Cherokee XJ and 93-98 Grand Cherokee ZJ with 4.0L $161.99

This exhaust manifold had expansion/contraction parts that helped keep it from cracking over time.

I personally have changed the exhaust manifold on my XJ at least 3 times.

I recommend changing your motor mounts and transmission mounts to limit the flex of the torquey 4.0l engine.
