Announcing a series of major changes, troubled automaker Stellantis said its CEO Carlos Tavares would retire when his contract ends in early 2026. The company has already begun its search for a new chief executive. Chrysler’s parent will also see two of its top executives — Chief Financial Officer Natalie Knight and Chief Operating Officer of North America Carlos Zarlenga — step down from their roles. The departures are part of a broader management shakeup at the company, which has been roiled by sluggish sales, unrest from car dealers, and threats of a labor strike.
Tavares has no business continuing as CEO of Stellantis. His leadership is the opposite of what any company could ever want. His erratic decisions with heads of the executive team have got to be some of the most bizarre things I’ve ever seen in my lifetime and so many top executives quit quickly once they get in the new role.
They talk about Stellantis’s amazing profits. These amazing profits can come at the cost of poor quality, insane price raises to Dealers, no incentives, straight lying to the Dealer base (promising if they took inventory, then they would do “x”) and then not doing it, no longer building a gas coupe or sedan and I could go on and on.
Stellantis, maker of Jeep and Ram, lays off more than 1,000 Detroit workers
Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, and Ram brands, is laying off 1,100 employees in Warren, Michigan.
And that’s not the end: as the company grapples with declining sales, Stellantis “will be implementing indefinite layoffs of represented employees across its footprint,” a spokeswoman said in an email. She said the company would not comment on how many more workers would lose their jobs.
The Warren Truck Assembly Plant manufactures the Ram 1500 Classic, which is being discontinued after this model year, as well as the Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. Stellantis said the layoffs in Warren, first announced in August, will begin on Saturday. It added that they are the result of the end of production of the Ram Classic.
The layoffs are expected to have ripple effects across the company’s U.S. workforce, which includes about 52,000 people according to Stellantis. Some production workers at the Warren plant, particularly those with seniority, may be reassigned to other plants, potentially displacing recent hires at those facilities.

The upcoming Jeep® Compass, codenamed J4U, is set to make significant waves in the automotive world with a bold new direction. Scheduled for its debut in the European market in September 2025, the next-generation Compass will exclusively offer four-wheel drive (4×4) on its battery-electric vehicle (BEV) models, marking a shift in how Jeep approaches electrification.
Production of the J4U will begin in Europe at the Stellantis Melfi Assembly Plant in Italy next summer. This facility is currently responsible for the production of the existing Jeep Compass, the smaller Jeep Renegade, their 4xe plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variants, and the Fiat 500X. The Melfi plant will not only produce the new Compass but also four other electrified vehicles for various Stellantis brands based on the STLA Medium architecture, a platform designed for maximum flexibility in powertrain options.
Jeep’s North American production is set to follow, with vehicles rolling off the line at the Stellantis Brampton Assembly Plant in Ontario, Canada. This timing aligns with the brand’s strategy to enhance its presence in both European and North American markets, catering to differing consumer demands.

When you got to go, you got to go!!
We love wheeling and getting out in the forest, deserts & beaches but what happens when you need to use the restroom? It’s not like there are bathrooms strategically placed out in the wild blue yonder.
What do you do for your guests in your Jeep? What about yourself? Well, I have a simple solution.
1) Make sure you tell (mentor) anyone riding with you how the ‘system” works. There are no facilities so it’s all natural in the wild
2) Tell them that NO paper gets left behind when it’s #1. NOPE, you. If it’s #2 that’s different and you need a shovel and bury it down about 6-10 inches in the soil.
3) Make up simple “packets” of a ziplock baggie with toilet paper inside. When she is done, she simply puts the used paperback in the baggie and zips it up. This includes all the “other” personal things she might need depending on her age. Throw the baggie in the on-board trash bag and NO more waste in the forest
4) Left/right on trail runs
AS experienced jeepers we need to help newbies on the trail. I have lots of these ready-made so if we are out on the trail with others (Newbies) who are new to wheeling, I can simply hand them out and the ladies are happy to have them. It makes using the great outdoors a bit discreet and we can help keep the forest/deserts clean from debris that doesn’t belong there.
Josh had a suggestion for another type of bag called W.A.G bags. It’s basically a plastic bag used for human waste.
So however you want to “bag up” your trash, just do it and make sure you tell the newbies. Let’s keep our trails clean and open.

JL recalls
I have one of the first 2018 JLU’s, it has been in for many issues over the years. Some of them have been recalled and some have just problems.
I have been having problems with the climate controls in my Jeep, it only blows hot on the driver’s side. I am seeing that more and more on the JL’s.
But while it was in the service advisor asked when I was going to do the recall for the clutch. Now up to this time, I have been told it was a re-flash to pull power out when the clutch got hot, that was to keep something like the pressure plate from exploding.
This time the service advisor said that had changed and Jeep is now replacing the clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, and throwout bearing.
This might have always been the case, but the first time it has been explained to be to be more than a re-flash.
So at 140k miles, there will be some new parts, hopefully for the better.
The dealer is also checking on the paint on the driver’s door bubbling again, and it’s not by the hinge. Hopefully, it will be repainted again.
