Jeep® Brand Returns to Rebelle Rally for Ninth Year, Showcases Desert-Rated Gladiator Pickup
The Jeep® brand is returning to the famed Rebelle Rally, entering the 2024 Gladiator Mojave driven by veteran competitors Nena Barlow and Teralin Petereit.
This is the fourth consecutive year the team has partnered with Jeep and the first time they’ll compete in a Gladiator midsize pickup. They have taken home the Overall and Bone Stock awards in two of the last three years.
The Rebelle Rally is the first and only women’s off-road navigation rally in the United States, blending the love of driving with the ultimate challenge of precise navigation. The off-road competition takes place over eight days and 1,500 miles across the Nevada and California deserts, the ideal playground to demonstrate the capability and durability of the Jeep Gladiator Mojave.

Jeep to study traditional hybrids as demand zooms for alternatives to plug-ins, EVs
The unveiling of the brand’s debut full-electric Avenger compact crossover in Japan tests this hybrid-loving market’s appetite for EVs.
Jeep will consider traditional hybrids as a more cost-effective alternative to plug-ins and full electrics as it seeks to diversify its electrified lineup and tap surging demand for fuel-efficient gasoline-electric vehicles in the U.S. market.
Dealerships are overrun with Jeeps. Here’s why no one is buying these things—should you?
What type of Jeeps are sitting on the lot?
With prices ranging from $33,990 to $102,000, Car and Driver reports that the Jeep Wrangler offers tons of versatility, like hardtop or softtop, automatic or manual, and gasoline or hybrid. The Wrangler gets 17 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. The interior for all models is spacious, with the newest models blending classic Jeep styles with modern amenities like the UConnect 5 system and a 12.3-inch touchscreen.
There are over 2,700 two-door Jeep Wranglers and over 34,000 four-door Jeep Wranglers currently sitting at dealerships. There are over 30,000 higher-priced 2024 Rubicon 392 4WD models and 17,085 hybrid models gathering dust in dealership lots across the country.
Many claimed that the price of new Jeep Wranglers is the reason why so many dealerships are overrun with Jeeps.
“52 grand? It’s a 25-35k vehicle at most.. they can sit on their lots til they rust..” one said.
“40k for a 2-door is insane,” a second agreed.
“No wrangler should cost over 30k the 392 shouldn’t be over 40k,” a third added.
Others blamed the drop in sales on competition and quality.

Newbie Nuggets with Wendy
Tread Lightly – leaving trails better than you found them
Here at JTS we always promote Pack it in and Pack it out. Meaning that whatever you bring to the trail, you leave with it.
Don’t litter, and don’t destroy the trail (i.e. spinning tires, removing rocks, cutting down fences, etc.).
If you take lunch/sodas – pack all your trash in your jeep. Use a bag hanging off the spare tire if you want but keep it out of the forest/desert etc.
Don’t toss glass bottles (or any bottles)- STOP throwing glass everywhere
Stay on the trails- don’t drive off and make your own. Trails get closed down because of this and 4×4 groups are constantly fixing fences. STOP wasting other people’s time and resources (yes we repair stuff for free) because you are too stupid to stay on the trail.
Stay off of sensitive areas – Just don’t
Bathroom: Bury it deep or take a baggie. I have a great video link in our show notes from our YouTube channel on how easy this is.
Kids/Dogs; plan for their needs – don’t leave dog toys, dog poo, or kids diapers on the trail.
Tread Lightly: Josh was a tread lightly trainer and a huge advocate of this program, It is a great organization you can get involved with and learn. Check out their website for more details about being a steward of the lands.
Let’s leave the trails better than you found it!
