Episode 1041 – Jeep Axing The Grand?
Jeep Axing the Grand Cherokee!
Is Jeep turning over a new leaf? The new EV-only RECON may be coming with an ICE option, and now is Jeep getting rid of their OFF-Road Jeeps?
No, don’t be ridiculous! They are axing prices, with reductions of between $11,000 and $28,000. Wow! These things must be VERY expensive! Lol
Prices have been reduced by more than 20 percent on some models, with the biggest saving to be found on the flagship seven-seater version.
The three-row Summit Reserve now slides under $100,000 before on-road costs, with a $28,000 reduction bringing it to $91,450 before on-roads.
The base versions of both the two-row and three-row body styles now fall under $70,000 thanks to reductions of more than $10,000.
Jeep notes this reduced pricing applies to model year 2023 Grand Cherokees. It has yet to announce any changes to the range for model year 2024.
While its WK2 predecessor was briefly Australia’s best-selling large SUV, the new WL generation – which first arrived here in 2022 – has proved much less popular despite the availability of a longer version with seven seats.
What Makes A Jeep?
No, you heard correctly, not WHO but WHAT.
Most REAL Jeepers don’t consider the NEW Cherokee, NEW Renegade, Compass, Liberty, or Commander, a REAL Jeep.
The question is what makes a Jeep, or a REAL Jeep?
Is it the shape, the fenders, the flat panels? Maybe it’s the no top, or the ability to remove the top.
I have a Gladiator and several REAL Jeepers don’t consider it a REAL Jeep.

Checking your undercarriage.
With the Texas event coming up and the wheeling season has been slow for me, I need to check the suspension on my Jeep.
I thought I would share how I do it, I have heard many ways to check your arms and track bars. This is just how I do it.
I like to put the jeep on stands and let the front or rear droop.
This way I can see if there is anything that is loose or moving around.
This way you don’t have weight on the components, that might be influencing what you’re looking at.
And as long as I don’t find anything, I’ll loosen everything and put the tires back on.
Then with the weight on the components and at ride height, I’ll toque everything.
Now if you like to paint pin your bolts this is where you would go around and mark all of your fasteners.
Now while you’re under there don’t forget a couple of key items.
Drive shafts, it doesn’t matter what joint you’re running. I’ll take a bet that, they are out of sight and out of mind.
Motor, Transmission & Transfer case mounts. Now be honest, when was the last time you checked any of those?
Then you have the most beet on things you have, skid plates.
It will take a couple of hours and I’ll leave a link for some of the toque settings you will need.
Just a little maintenance that needs done to keep your rig operational and ready.
So Wendy and Tony, do you go through your rigs and check for loose bolts and fasteners?
