Jeep Scrambler Gets IFS — Solid Axle Fans Lose?
On this week’s Jeep Talk Show flagship episode, Tony and Chris dive into the orange Jeep Scrambler SRT concept just revealed at SEMA, packing a 392 HEMI, reversible rear-facing seats like the old Subaru Brat, and the first independent front suspension on a Wrangler platform. They debate whether Jeep should keep the solid axle that defines real off-road capability or offer IFS as an option (especially on non-Rubicon models), while comparing it to the Bronco and questioning if lower-trim Wranglers and Gladiators will lose the solid front end. Plus, thoughts on the name (should the Gladiator have been the Comanche?), SEMA product awards like Flat Peak rooftop tent leveling mounts and Warren EVO winches, a quick Josh’s mom update, and the upcoming Ruby Ultra4 interview.

Speaker 1
right. It’s time for another Jeep talk show flagship episode. Tonight we’re going to be talking about the things in the news and on the recording of this, this is a Thursday evening. So that means one more day of SEMA Chris. Are you sad? You weren’t at SEMA other than the walking around and the sweating like a, a filthy pig. I would love to be there. You
[00:00:33:16 – 00:01:05:14]
Speaker 1
know, it’s amazing to me. It just started on Tuesday. I mean, I think people start getting there on Friday, uh, the week prior, but it just started on Tuesday and it’s over. I mean, it’s after five on Thursday. I think it’s after five there. Yeah, it’s after five, uh, uh, mountain time and it’s over except for really breaking down and shipping out because even though I think it runs till noon or 3 PM tomorrow, Friday, people are, people are leaving. I mean, they’re breaking down the, the, the booths and heading out.
[00:01:29:24 – 00:01:47:15]
Speaker 1
Oh, you remember, uh, Tammy, uh, former co-host here on the show, right? Uh, I believe this was her, I believe this was her first year going to, uh, to SEMA. I saw her on Instagram and walking around and bothering people. It was like you’re supposed to do when you’re at SEMA.
[00:01:48:27 – 00:01:54:21]
Speaker 1
Right.
[00:02:02:17 – 00:02:02:23]
Speaker 1
Uh,
[00:02:04:08 – 00:02:12:22]
Speaker 1
and I think she went out there with a TNT customs who she works for. I can’t remember, uh, director of marketing or something that she does, uh, does for them.
[00:02:15:08 – 00:02:17:13]
Speaker 1
All right. Well, let’s talk about the piece of
[00:02:17:13 – 00:03:13:04]
Speaker 1
I’m sorry. Let’s talk about the Jeep, uh, entry, the, the big reveal that, uh, Jeep did, uh, uh, I guess it was Tuesday that when they revealed that, uh, the, uh, and you correct me on any of this, cause I just have a cursory amount of information on it. It wasn’t interesting to me. So I didn’t read a lot about it. I know, I know it’s a Jeep show. I should know everything there is to know, but, uh, yeah, that’s, that’s not how it works for me. Um, so it was, uh, it was orange. So it was a nice bright color for a Jeep, which I think is the way that you should do things with a Jeep. It should be a bright color. Uh, it was a scrambler and, uh, I’m really surprised they didn’t call it a brat, uh, because it has two seats in the back that you can face backwards, just like that really cool, but way too small and not an off road vehicle Subaru brat that came out. What was it in the seventies, the late seventies, early eighties. Do you know what I’m talking about? Chris?
[00:03:18:09 – 00:03:19:22]
Speaker 1
It was a cool little car. Yeah.
[00:03:24:01 – 00:03:26:18]
Speaker 1
Oh,
[00:03:28:15 – 00:03:39:01]
Speaker 1
it’s perfect for bottle rockets. You know, when you’re having bottle rocket fights in the neighborhood or better yet on the highway, don’t, don’t do, don’t do, don’t be like me. Don’t do that. That’s good. That’ll cause a wreck.
[00:04:09:01 – 00:04:18:12]
(Silence)
[00:04:18:12 – 00:04:29:06]
Speaker 1
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, dude, I think I did like that one. And as a true scrambler, the bed is not detached from the cab area.
[00:04:29:06 – 00:04:44:29]
(Silence)
[00:04:44:29 – 00:04:46:18]
Speaker 1
What
[00:04:48:11 – 00:04:51:28]
Speaker 1
is it, the Honda Ridgeline that does the same thing? They could have called it scrambler.
[00:04:51:28 – 00:04:55:01]
(Laughs)
[00:05:02:05 – 00:05:02:14]
Speaker 1
Sure.
[00:05:04:07 – 00:05:05:29]
(Silence)
[00:05:05:29 – 00:05:41:28]
Speaker 1
Well, the new one that came out isn’t by definition of the original scrambler. And I know Josh and I argued repeatedly that the gladiator should not have been called the gladiator. It should have been called the scrambler. And that’s when a lot of that discussion started about the bed is detached from the cab, so it’s not a scrambler. And it’s like, okay, and now, I mean, I may have mentioned this before, but it does dawn to me, they should have called it the Comanche, because I think the Comanche was separated, the cab and the bed, when the Comanche was separated. So instead of calling it the gladiator, I would have loved for it to be called a Comanche, or maybe a Comanche too.
[00:05:41:28 – 00:05:56:08]
(Silence)
[00:05:59:06 – 00:06:03:07]
Speaker 1
Oh, yeah, yeah, it really was. I mean, it was basically an XJ with a bed,
[00:06:04:10 – 00:06:22:12]
Speaker 1
which I think is just really cool. I mean, anytime they can… I mean, you’re looking at the same type of deal with the gladiator. All right, anyway, independent front suspension could come to regular Wranglers as the Scrambler SRT revealed. Tim Knutskis, is that what you said, Knutskis? You know how to pronounce Knutskis, thank you.
[00:06:23:13 – 00:06:28:02]
Speaker 1
Sounds like some sort of IT data center name.
[00:06:29:23 – 00:06:31:19]
Speaker 1
Let’s move all over there to the Knutskis.
[00:06:33:03 – 00:06:53:07]
Speaker 1
He asked, do we leave this only for SRT, or do we make this an option for all Wrangler customers? He said he’s not asking anyone to give up the solid axle, just whether both can exist. The drive argues he wouldn’t float it unless it was already coming as Jeep fights the Bronco. You know,
[00:06:53:07 – 00:07:03:16]
Speaker 1
those guys. If they want to build… If Ford wants to build a Jeep knockoff, and they don’t want to go solid axle, they want to do IFS because Bronco owners are
[00:07:03:16 – 00:07:17:09]
Speaker 1
and they want a nice smooth ride in their Bronco, that’s fine. Make it for that audience. I’ll say it again. If people are buying too much Pepsi, don’t change the Coke
[00:07:17:09 – 00:07:18:13]
Speaker 1
formula.
[00:07:19:27 – 00:07:26:17]
Speaker 1
If you like Coke, you’re going to stick with Coke. If you want Pepsi, go drink Pepsi. And by the way, you’re a
[00:07:26:17 – 00:07:28:22]
Speaker 1
if you drink Pepsi. Sorry.
[00:07:28:22 – 00:07:37:15]
(Laughs)
[00:07:38:26 – 00:07:48:00]
Speaker 1
That was so stupid. Coke fanatics were just like, “What the hell’s wrong with you, number one soft drink?” And that’s not good enough for you.
[00:07:49:25 – 00:07:52:00]
Speaker 1
I
[00:07:53:24 – 00:08:00:03]
Speaker 1
think we will. Who wants a Bronco? Bronco’s not a Jeep. If you want a Bronco, go with
[00:08:00:03 – 00:08:05:24]
Speaker 1
That’s fine. Go do it. But why in the world would…
[00:08:07:13 – 00:08:38:06]
Speaker 1
Jeep is known for what they bring to the table. They bring something different than anybody else. And even in 2026, they still bring things to the market that are different than everybody else because they’re consistent. It’s not consistently bad. It’s consistently good because you go off-road in it. I mean, I don’t have a problem with you going fast off-road. Go fast off-road.
[00:08:39:06 – 00:08:57:03]
Speaker 1
What’s that? That full-size truck that they… I’m bringing fart in on because I’m just so pissed off. The Ford pickup, not the Bronco. What’s it called? The Raptor. Get a Raptor. Go fast. Whoop-de-doo. I mean, go over the whoop-de-doo’s. That’s fine. I think a lot of people just do it with a
[00:08:58:26 – 00:09:14:25]
Speaker 1
side-by-side like Polaris or one of those little things that go fast that are IFS. And the nice thing about those is they cost twice as much as a regular vehicle. But when you break them, it doesn’t matter because you don’t need them to go to work. It’s just this throwdown piece of
[00:09:14:25 – 00:09:38:18]
Speaker 1
I doubt very seriously that anybody’s going to buy a scrambler and only have it for off-road fun. You can, but I doubt it. People are going to drive it back and forth to work. Well, you won’t be able to if they design the front end, the snap, just like the Bronco front end, snap with whatever. You just go up to the off-road location. It looks at it and gets scared, pees a little bit, and breaks a little wing so it doesn’t have to go.
[00:09:38:18 – 00:10:06:13]
(Silence)
[00:10:06:13 – 00:10:01:07]
Speaker 1
Why?
[00:10:14:10 – 00:10:14:29]
Speaker 1
Why?
[00:10:16:11 – 00:10:22:06]
Speaker 1
Nobody needs anything but a wrangler or a gladiator. And if you’re fancy, you can get a grand Cherokee.
[00:11:22:06 – 00:11:47:12]
(Silence)
[00:11:50:11 – 00:11:54:01]
Speaker 1
So let me interrupt here a second and tell you.
[00:11:55:16 – 00:12:11:26]
Speaker 1
Back in 2021, I made the decision after the Cherokee was 23 years old at the time, I believe, I made the decision to go ahead and get me a new Jeep. I didn’t ever want to really get a new Jeep because they stopped making them with the 4.0-liter engine.
[00:12:12:27 – 00:12:26:25]
Speaker 1
But okay, I’m going to get one and I’m going to get a gladiator so I can tow the XJ. Well, if I’d done more research, I would have found out I really can’t tow it without a trailer. And I know that there’s ways of doing it, but none of those ways I liked.
[00:12:27:27 – 00:12:52:07]
Speaker 1
And it was just going to be too much work to flat tow the XJ. But anyway, I went to get a gladiator and I didn’t even look at the Wrangler prices. I wasn’t interested in a Wrangler. I wanted a gladiator. I guess it kind of reminded me of the Comanche. And I’d wish that I had had a Comanche, although they didn’t make a, I think they stopped making the Comanches in 92. So I certainly didn’t want
[00:12:53:19 – 00:13:05:13]
Speaker 1
something that was older than my XJ. So anyway, I was going to get the gladiator and I was looking at the prices and stuff. It would have been nice to get a Rubicon. I couldn’t afford a Rubicon gladiator.
[00:13:07:21 – 00:13:08:07]
Speaker 1
Hang
[00:13:10:01 – 00:13:10:18]
Speaker 1
on just a second.
[00:13:10:18 – 00:13:16:22]
(Blank Audio)
[00:13:20:21 – 00:13:22:11]
Speaker 1
I’m surprised the little dog’s not barking.
[00:13:23:18 – 00:13:28:05]
(Blank Audio)
[00:13:28:05 – 00:13:29:05]
Speaker 1
Oh, just come in the
[00:13:29:05 – 00:13:29:29]
Speaker 1
door.
[00:13:31:12 – 00:13:33:15]
(Blank Audio)
[00:13:33:15 – 00:13:38:08]
Speaker 1
She’s trying to train the big dog to go to your spot, which is up on the stairwell.
[00:13:39:11 – 00:13:39:22]
(Blank Audio)
[00:13:39:22 – 00:13:42:25]
Speaker 1
All right, I think they’re going to shut up. Edit, edit, edit.
[00:13:43:27 – 00:13:57:06]
Speaker 1
So I couldn’t afford a Rubicon. I mean, it was $60,000 or something. And I didn’t want to spend seven, $800 a month for a vehicle payment. I mean, that’s common these days.
[00:14:00:26 – 00:14:13:13]
Speaker 1
Yeah, so I looked at what I could do and I think I put $15,000 down on it just so I could get my payments down to around $400 a month. And even at that, I was looking at the
[00:14:15:02 – 00:14:54:20]
Speaker 1
sport. And then I found that the sport S, you could get the max toe on. Actually, you might not be able to get it on the sport as well. But anyway, I went with the sport S and I could afford that. So now you’re telling me that, okay, let’s say I want to buy a new gladiator, I mean, or even a new wrangler. But let’s just say gladiator. I want to buy a new gladiator. I can’t afford a Rubicon to get the solid front axle. We talked about this. I think we talked about this prior to recording. So the bit is that you told me was that if you’re going to get a Rubicon, you’ll be able to get a solid front axle. Everything else is going to have IFS. I don’t know
[00:14:54:20 – 00:14:56:02]
Speaker 1
IFS.
[00:14:57:25 – 00:14:58:11]
Speaker 1
that
[00:14:58:11 – 00:15:02:10]
Speaker 1
So I’m either not going to buy a Jeep
[00:15:03:11 – 00:15:05:19]
Speaker 1
or I’m going to go buy something else.
[00:15:06:24 – 00:15:48:05]
Speaker 1
So this is what I’m saying is, is that you can’t remove IFS. I don’t care if it’s 1% of the people will take it off road. They may, and I think we you’ve experienced this, I believe, and I know lots of people we know have experienced it. I’m never going off road. Oh, we were talking about Tammy. Tammy was this. All she wanted was a convertible. She thought that driving around with a top on was really cool. So that’s what she wanted. And then once she got the Jeep, she decided she wanted to go off road. It scared the hell out of her. That was fun. And she wanted to do more and she might have had it modified. Bigger tires started doing more off road. How are you going to do that with a
[00:15:48:05 – 00:15:48:26]
Speaker 1
piece of
[00:15:48:26 – 00:15:55:00]
Speaker 1
IFS wrangler or gladiator? You’re not. You bought the wrong Jeep.
[00:15:57:13 – 00:15:57:22]
Speaker 1
Yeah,
[00:15:59:01 – 00:16:11:05]
Speaker 1
that’s my problem. I have with it. Not what people want to do. Not what people are most likely going to do. But this is kind of like the way Apple does. They decide what you what how you’re going to do it and how you should do it.
[00:16:12:12 – 00:16:20:28]
Speaker 1
No, that’s I’m a customer. I may be wrong in your estimation, but I’m going to do it the way I want to do it. And if I’m wrong, then that was my decision.
[00:16:31:28 – 00:16:32:14]
Speaker 1
And Jeep
[00:16:34:04 – 00:16:38:00]
Speaker 1
IFS, Jeep IFS isn’t one of the bad things, not the really bad things.
[00:17:12:20 – 00:17:13:06]
Speaker 1
I agree.
[00:17:25:13 – 00:17:36:14]
Speaker 1
Yeah, you know, the sad thing is this seems to happen every generation where the new generation decides they want something completely different. And then the older generation is like, you dumb
[00:17:36:14 – 00:17:41:19]
Speaker 1
You don’t understand. But it’s fine.
[00:17:42:22 – 00:17:50:24]
Speaker 1
It’s just, it’s hard to understand for the older generation because the newer generation doesn’t get it. So
[00:17:52:05 – 00:18:02:05]
Speaker 1
do you know that there’s fewer youngsters, when I say youngsters, you know, like teens and young adults that don’t care anything about getting their driver’s license?
[00:18:03:23 – 00:18:04:10]
Speaker 1
It’s
[00:18:05:19 – 00:18:22:23]
Speaker 1
a sense of freedom that you have because you can go places on your own without having to ask somebody else. And now they’re not caring about that because they have other ways of moving around or they’re just on their device interacting with people through the internet.
[00:18:22:23 – 00:18:30:00]
(Audio Cuts Out)
[00:18:36:12 – 00:20:45:15]
Speaker 1
You know, you brought up politics. I wasn’t gonna bring this up, but I thought I would mention this. Every time there’s a major election, whether it’s presidential or midterms, there are winners and losers. And the last presidential election was a big thing, made a lot of people happy that it worked out the way it did. And I think a lot of those people are unhappy now, but there’s a lot of people that are happy. And I just wanna say congratulations to all those people that were happy about how the midterms turned out. I know there’s several that aren’t happy. There’s several that are happy, but there’s winners and losers and it dawned on me. This is one of the reasons why I do not like following professional sports. You follow professional sports, you are a loser because your team is always going to lose at one point or another. And then you get to feel bad, you get to curse, you get to talk about how the coach is screwed up, and you’re on this emotional roller coaster. Now I understand men generally don’t have emotions, so this gives them an option to have some emotions from time to time. And if you like that, that’s fine. But I stop following professional sports because it doesn’t do anything. It doesn’t make things better, it doesn’t make things worse, it just costs millions and millions of dollars, which is fine, I don’t care if the players are making millions of dollars for whatever they can work out with the people that are paying them. But whenever they start using my tax money to build a stadium, that’s whenever I have a problem with it because I didn’t have a say in it. So anyway, bottom line, congratulations to everybody that’s happy. And there’s various levels of happy. I don’t begrudge you, I think it’s fine, and hopefully it’ll work out the way you’re hoping it that it’ll work out for all of us. It’ll work out good for all of us. So with that said, we talk about, we try to stay away from it when we talk about the politics on here from time to time. So I’m not sour grapes, I would like to go back to where I was in my twenties and just not paying attention to politics. It’s a huge waste of time
[00:20:46:15 – 00:20:56:06]
Speaker 1
in my estimation. I mean, it’s important, it affects our lives, it affects our ability to make money and lots of things, but I’d less like not to, I mean, they’re all crooks.
[00:20:58:23 – 00:21:00:09]
Speaker 1
None of them, you can’t trust any of them.
[00:21:00:09 – 00:21:09:08]
(Laughs)
[00:21:09:08 – 00:21:11:01]
Speaker 1
And
[00:21:13:09 – 00:21:15:17]
Speaker 1
they all lie so
[00:21:15:17 – 00:21:16:18]
Speaker 1
much.
[00:21:17:26 – 00:21:18:10]
Speaker 1
God.
[00:21:26:21 – 00:21:28:10]
Speaker 1
Honey, does this
[00:21:29:12 – 00:21:32:01]
Speaker 1
dress make my ass look big?
[00:21:33:28 – 00:21:35:03]
Speaker 1
No, honey, it’s your ass.
[00:21:36:06 – 00:21:38:02]
Speaker 1
All right, I’m not voting for you.
[00:21:39:12 – 00:22:04:21]
Speaker 1
I don’t need that kind of truth. All right, anyway, back to this. The Caron Driver says the Scrambler SRT Concept Previews of production Scrambler, which it expects around 2028, likely is a full lineup with the SRT at the top. Its first public use of Scrambler name since Jeep confirmed its return at Stellantis Investor Day in May, I believe you mentioned that. So,
[00:22:05:24 – 00:22:24:06]
Speaker 1
I guess I really didn’t realize, I’m glad you reminded me about mentioning the, because I think you mentioned this before to me about the Scrambler. I really thought it was a concept vehicle. I guess I was kind of hoping it was a concept vehicle. Oh, and did you notice that the grille, the front grille was completely different?
[00:22:54:24 – 00:22:55:06]
Speaker 1
Mike.
[00:23:05:07 – 00:23:14:18]
Speaker 1
Well, I think this is a smart move. People complain about gladiators not being real jeeps, yet they wave to them anyway, because they can’t tell that it’s got a bet on it until after they’ve waved.
[00:23:16:19 – 00:23:16:19]
(Laughs)
[00:23:17:23 – 00:23:43:04]
Speaker 1
So I’ll tell you what though, I mean, it looked like a nice vehicle, it looked like it was well-designed, it looked like fun. I mean, it’s got a 392 in it, at least the one at SEMA did. And I like the idea of the seats, the back seats that can face forward or reverse. I don’t know how popular having them reverse would be, but I really thought that the brat really looked cool with those seats that were permanently facing backwards.
[00:23:43:04 – 00:24:09:22]
(Mumbles)
[00:24:12:03 – 00:24:29:01]
Speaker 1
Well, I thought you couldn’t ride in the back of a pickup anymore, but you can if you’re an adult. I mean, kids used to do it, and for me, it was always lots of fun, getting opportunity to ride in the back of a pickup in the bed. Of course, there was no seat belts, there was no neck straps to hold you in in case there was a big bump.
[00:24:30:07 – 00:24:30:20]
Speaker 1
So.
[00:25:02:06 – 00:25:03:14]
Speaker 1
Oh, speaking of
[00:25:05:19 – 00:25:24:02]
Speaker 1
Ohio, this is totally unrelated, which is not unusual for this show. I was thumbing through Tic Tac, the watching this, looking at some of the things, and they had a map of the United States up, and the map was showing which states incest was legal in.
[00:25:25:27 – 00:25:27:08]
(Laughs)
[00:25:29:26 – 00:25:30:16]
Speaker 1
And it
[00:25:31:24 – 00:25:34:06]
Speaker 1
is, currently is.
[00:25:34:06 – 00:25:59:21]
Speaker 1
Yeah, and I’m like, what? Are you kidding me? So, I mean, it’s on social media, so it’s gotta be true, right? I mean, I did check it out, not because I have any need knowing to be able to use this law, but it was shocking to me that it would be legal anywhere. Now, what state do you think, just off the top of your head, what state comes to mind as being legal for incest?
[00:26:05:01 – 00:26:06:19]
Speaker 1
You, sir, would be wrong.
[00:26:08:14 – 00:26:09:17]
Speaker 1
It is Ohio.
[00:26:12:16 – 00:26:13:24]
Speaker 1
And there’s two other states,
[00:26:15:00 – 00:26:19:06]
Speaker 1
so if you could guess what the other one or the other state is, what would you guess?
[00:26:23:15 – 00:26:56:00]
Speaker 1
Hey, new to the Jeep Talk Show, we’ve been doing this for 16 years since December 2010, with 1,500 episodes available on YouTube and everywhere you can find great audio-only podcasts. [00:26:56:00 – 00:27:04:05]
Speaker 1
Oh, that’s interesting, because I thought Arkansas. I mean, you know, I like making the jokes about Arkansas and every day is Cousin Day.
[00:27:05:15 – 00:27:06:28]
Speaker 1
Alabama, yeah.
[00:27:08:27 – 00:27:13:08]
Speaker 1
No, no, it’s illegal in those states. Ohio,
[00:27:14:12 – 00:27:36:10]
Speaker 1
New Jersey, and not New York, but it’s the East Coast, somewhere up on the East Coast, so you guys can look it up and fill it in in the comments down below. But I could leave that. I mean, it saves on the cousin testing, the DNA testing before you can get married. I don’t know, maybe it’s illegal to get married. Would that be funny? You could have
[00:27:36:10 – 00:27:38:13]
Speaker 1
with your cousin, but you can’t marry him.
[00:27:41:11 – 00:27:49:13]
Speaker 1
Anyway, it just, you said Ohio and it triggered me, because I was so shocked about that. You know, they say incest is best, so I don’t know.
[00:27:52:15 – 00:27:55:28]
Speaker 1
No, absolutely not. It’s not Arkansas. That was a big deal to me.
[00:27:57:01 – 00:27:59:10]
Speaker 1
Tip of the hat to Rick Turner from Arkansas.
[00:28:00:20 – 00:28:54:02]
Speaker 1
I give him a hard time all the time. All right, so Warren’s new EVO series winch at SEMA is an 8,000, 10,000, and 12,000 pound versions for Wranglers, Gladiators, and other four by fours with a choice of steel or synthetic rope. See, they know what the hell they’re doing there. They haven’t outlawed steel cable. I mean, it’s gonna be steel cable for B-Man. I just, I don’t need, like I’ve said before, I do not need to have to apply the lotion to my synthetic rope to keep the sun from destroying it. It’s just so that you could be fancy. Show the people in the mall parking lot that, oh, look, I got this synthetic rope. Isn’t that cool? That’s nice. Is that cheaper than the cable? No, it’s not. It’s more expensive and you have to replace it more often. Not if you take care of it. Okay, well, anyway, I’m a man, I don’t take care of
[00:28:54:02 – 00:28:55:06]
Speaker 1
I just use it.
[00:29:01:01 – 00:29:18:29]
Speaker 1
Quadratec SEMA coverage also confirms the Scrambler runs the 392 HEMI with an eight speed automatic. You know, the eight speed automatic has been, I’m glad that I have a vehicle with the eight speed automatic in it because it is a very, very good transmission. Valve reports.
[00:29:42:17 – 00:29:56:20]
Speaker 1
What about the AW4? I’ve heard the AW4 was a very, very good engine. I mean, a very good transmission. But I think it technically is not a Chrysler Mopar engine. It is a Toyota, I keep saying engine, Toyota transmission.
[00:30:00:03 – 00:30:00:11]
Speaker 1
Okay.
[00:30:01:22 – 00:30:02:20]
Speaker 1
Not USA,
[00:30:02:20 – 00:30:03:01]
Speaker 1
it.
[00:30:03:01 – 00:30:19:09]
(Audio Cuts Out)
[00:30:20:24 – 00:30:32:19]
Speaker 1
I’m shocked they didn’t make a better manual transmission. And when I say manual transmission, not just the transmission, but the clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, all that stuff, that they just
[00:30:33:21 – 00:30:34:28]
Speaker 1
screwed the pooch on that one.
[00:31:04:29 – 00:31:08:28]
(Audio Cuts Out)
[00:31:08:28 – 00:31:31:17]
Speaker 1
Well, you know, somebody knew. Is this like, I’m sure, when the Ford Bronco engineers said, those tie rod ends are a little thin. Those are gonna be problematic if anybody takes it off road. Who’s gonna take it off road? This is, it’s a Bronco. You know, so, then they took them off road and all that anti or negative PR start showing up with
[00:31:32:21 – 00:31:35:13]
Speaker 1
the Broncos or the independent front steering.
[00:31:36:26 – 00:31:53:15]
Speaker 1
It just looks bad. And it shows you what, how things are designed. They really shouldn’t skimp. I mean, you shouldn’t go to the extreme and making things very, very expensive, but you know it wouldn’t have cost that much to beef up those tie rod ends.
[00:31:53:15 – 00:32:04:01]
(Audio Cuts Out)
[00:32:04:01 – 00:32:18:18]
Speaker 1
I think it, I think it hurts them in the long run. Let me ask you something. I bet you know something about this. Did you see, oh, who’s that, Farley and Ford, the CEO, is it Farley, is the guy’s last name? Did you see, yeah, did…
[00:32:18:18 – 00:32:20:01]
(Audio Cuts Out)
[00:32:22:22 – 00:32:24:23]
Speaker 1
I can see that, at least in a skit.
[00:32:26:03 – 00:32:31:05]
Speaker 1
Especially with the van down by the river. That just lines up perfectly. But anyway,
[00:32:32:11 – 00:33:02:14]
Speaker 1
did you see him talking about they are going to start selling Fords directly? They are not going to be the whole dealer network thing they’re doing away with. It’s really the Tesla model. It’s what I’m looking at it as. The price is going to be the price. And I think right now, Ford sells a bunch of vehicles to dealers, so they technically are no longer Ford’s vehicles, but they’re changing that.
[00:33:04:05 – 00:33:14:13]
Speaker 1
I think this is going to, I think what they’re looking at doing is keeping the service at the dealerships. But as far as selling the vehicles, it’s going to be direct.
[00:33:14:13 – 00:33:39:13]
(Audio Cuts Out)
[00:33:40:16 – 00:34:30:14]
Speaker 1
Yeah, I mean, Farley himself was in the video talking about it. Of course, these days, you don’t know if it’s not just something generated by AI. But I thought that was very interesting. And I think it’s very telling of the industry as a whole. And specifically Ford, I don’t keep up with Ford. I view Ford as a very good automobile manufacturer. I wouldn’t look at anything from Ford unless it was a pickup truck. And actually, if Jeep only makes Jeeps with IFS that I can afford, I’ll probably start buying full-size pickups. And Ford would be the first one I’d go to if I couldn’t afford the Ford pickup truck because those things are really expensive. I’d probably be looking at the Dodge Ram. That would be my next choice. Not as fun as a Jeep, not my
[00:34:31:19 – 00:34:35:10]
Speaker 1
personal choice of what I’d like to drive it around. But I’m not going to drive a car around.
[00:34:36:14 – 00:34:36:20]
Speaker 1
I mean,
[00:34:38:23 – 00:34:53:24]
Speaker 1
I’m not going to talk about Tesla here, but I like Tesla. I like it a lot. I don’t want a Tesla car. I don’t want a car. I don’t care how fast it goes. So I don’t want to drive a car. It’s going to be a truck or a Jeep.
[00:34:55:05 – 00:35:06:11]
Speaker 1
That’s just plain and simple. And when I say a Jeep, an off-road Jeep, not something, compass or anything like that. It’s just a waste of my life. Let’s just put it that way.
[00:35:07:16 – 00:35:09:08]
Speaker 1
My life is limited and,
[00:35:09:08 – 00:35:38:05]
Speaker 1
it, you ought to drive the vehicle that makes you feel good. Not necessarily good about yourself, but that you enjoy driving and being. Okay.
[00:35:42:18 – 00:35:43:12]
Speaker 1
Did you try
[00:35:44:13 – 00:35:50:20]
Speaker 1
adjusting the key a little bit? I noticed sometimes the key doesn’t get in the right position and that doesn’t turn everything on.
[00:35:53:19 – 00:36:00:04]
Speaker 1
Like the TJ and the XJ. I don’t know if you ever had that problem, the little electrical issue.
[00:36:01:16 – 00:36:02:06]
Speaker 1
You were confused.
[00:36:02:06 – 00:36:05:22]
(Laughing)
[00:36:14:11 – 00:36:16:15]
Speaker 1
Oh no, it was just you and your thoughts.
[00:36:28:03 – 00:36:34:19]
Speaker 1
Did your subscription expire? You know, they were talking about doing subscriptions for heat, heat seater, seed eaters and all the rest of that stuff.
[00:37:17:27 – 00:37:41:21]
Speaker 1
And wild white was the best color ever. Yeah,
[00:37:43:21 – 00:37:51:09]
Speaker 1
and it’s not a requirement that people look or agree, at least for me, look at your Jeep or agree that it
[00:37:53:09 – 00:37:56:12]
Speaker 1
makes you look better as an individual. I don’t give a
[00:37:56:12 – 00:38:02:03]
Speaker 1
about that. It’s nice, but I don’t care. You can figure I got a small
[00:38:02:03 – 00:38:10:22]
Speaker 1
because I drive a lifted vehicle. I don’t care. It’s not something you’re going to see. It’s not something I care about you knowing.
[00:38:12:07 – 00:38:56:21]
Speaker 1
The Jeep is what I have because I enjoy it. I like it. It’s also a trustworthy friend. It has 99.9% of the time always gotten me to where I wanted to go. And it’s gotten me to where I wanted to go over some stuff that I personally would have a hard time walking up over or through that it did easily. That’s one of the reasons why, what does it say? It’s a phase only a mother could love. That’s the way Jeep is. Jeeps are ugly. I don’t see the ugly anymore before I was interested in Jeeps, but before I had one, it’s like, that’s an ugly vehicle. I mean, that’s like a Pontiac
[00:38:58:06 – 00:38:59:05]
Speaker 1
Aztec ugly.
[00:39:00:17 – 00:39:14:25]
Speaker 1
that’s a horrible vehicle. But yeah.
[00:39:16:12 – 00:39:16:21]
Speaker 1
Yeah.
[00:39:18:16 – 00:39:26:07]
Speaker 1
Yeah. Uh, uh, uh, uh, Mary for love instead of a beauty. Uh, but anyway, that was an ugly,
[00:39:26:07 – 00:39:32:08]
Speaker 1
goddamn ugly vehicle. Um, so, uh, but, but the Jeep has a,
[00:39:33:21 – 00:41:09:18]
Speaker 1
it has a thing about it. It is a, an off road vehicle. It is a very capable off road. It is a self sufficient indication that you’re potentially a self sufficient individual. So it tells people, it’s like the kind of hat that you wear or how you dress, uh, or, uh, how much I make up you put on. And that’s not talking about women. I’m talking about the Metro sexuals. It, it gives you indication of what type of person this is because I mean, we, I think it’s all like, uh, uh, having not overly, but having that vibe of who we are. So if you’re going to approach me and talk to me about stuff, uh, talk to me about my Jeep, I mean, or talk to me about my truck. Um, what was it? Oh, I was really surprised. I did that interview. I think it was, uh, with flatted, uh, that I found out that, uh, mr. Wonderful. Uh, at least at the time at a Ford F one 50 pickup. And you know, he’s high finance. He’s one of the sharks on the shark show and seeing him run around in that old Ford pickup was surprising to me. And I thought that was really cool. It was an F one 50 and I think it was like an eighties, like an 89 or something. So, uh, I thought that was really cool. And it changed my opinion of him. It’s not that I didn’t have a bad opinion of him, but he wears a suit, high finance, all that stuff, but he’s got a pickup. That’s tells you a lot about individual. That’s not somebody that’s putting on stuff for show. He probably has a pickup because he likes to haul
[00:41:09:18 – 00:41:10:06]
Speaker 1
around.
[00:41:12:01 – 00:41:12:22]
Speaker 1
And if he’s hauling
[00:41:12:22 – 00:41:27:28]
Speaker 1
around, that means he’s picking stuff up and putting it in the back of that truck. Maybe he’s got a friend, maybe whatever, but still he’s doing stuff on his own. He’s not just paying somebody to do it for him. That tells you something about it. All
[00:41:29:10 – 00:41:52:02]
Speaker 1
right. So let’s see. Uh, Cilantro South Africa. Oh, that’s important to us is recalling 1,896 wranglers and gladiators sold from 2021 to 2025, a power steering pump connection can overheat, trigger or a service power steering warning. And in some cases, start of fire. This is that big recall that, uh, that we’ve talked about.
[00:41:55:14 – 00:42:22:10]
Speaker 1
Yeah. Uh, but I’m surprised maybe it’s because it’s South Africa, but only 1,896, I mean, there’s a bunch of vehicles here in the States, uh, that are under that flag, uh, that recall flag as well as mine. Um, let’s see, uh, chili flagged 1,181 wranglers, gladiators, and ram trucks, or radio software bug that can leave the backup camera screen blank and reverse. Oh my
[00:42:22:10 – 00:42:34:02]
Speaker 1
How can you drive without a reverse camera? How dare they? How many people got killed or are backed over because of that camera being out? Oh
[00:42:34:02 – 00:42:34:17]
Speaker 1
God.
[00:42:41:16 – 00:42:41:28]
Speaker 1
Yeah.
[00:42:45:16 – 00:42:46:23]
Speaker 1
Yeah. I was,
[00:42:50:08 – 00:42:50:24]
Speaker 1
Oh yeah. Yeah.
[00:42:59:02 – 00:43:00:09]
Speaker 1
Do that anyway. Yeah.
[00:43:19:19 – 00:43:38:07]
Speaker 1
Or are your kid, your kid may be out there. Your two year old may have wandered out. It’s a wonderful safety device, but, but when people panic, honey, my cell, my, my check engine line, I got a little picture of an engine on my dash. What do I do? And a Jeep you say, well, you can say, is it flashing? No, drive it.
[00:43:47:28 – 00:43:49:26]
Speaker 1
Which one is that? I can’t remember what is that.
[00:43:54:03 – 00:43:55:12]
Speaker 1
Oh,
[00:43:56:12 – 00:43:56:20]
Speaker 1
take a
[00:43:56:20 – 00:44:02:04]
Speaker 1
Uh, it’s always fun except sitting down. Cause that, that toilet seat is a little cold.
[00:44:07:14 – 00:44:11:20]
Speaker 1
Yeah, I’d seen that, but I forgot, I forgot what exactly what it was supposed to be telling you. Um,
[00:44:13:13 – 00:44:49:16]
Speaker 1
all right. SEMA handed out its 2026, a new product awards on day one, the truck and off-road winner was flat peaks, rooftop, tent leveling mounts priced at more than 30. Uh, I’m sorry, picked from more, cause I thought it was going to be $1,300 picked for more than 1300 entries across 15 categories. That’s pretty cool. I don’t know. I need to look at this to see if it’s as cool as I think it is. But can you imagine that you’ve, you think you’re in a flat spot and, but you’re not, and you’re sliding while you’re trying to sleep. Uh,
[00:44:50:16 – 00:45:06:18]
Speaker 1
so a leveling of something that levels, uh, the tent. And I would assume that that, uh, let’s see, what was it? Uh, feet, uh, flat peaks, rooftop, tent leveling mounts. Well, I guess that means underneath the tent, not underneath the vehicle.
[00:45:07:24 – 00:45:09:17]
Speaker 1
That’s interesting. That’s pretty cool.
[00:45:25:12 – 00:45:25:22]
Speaker 1
Oh yeah.
[00:45:30:18 – 00:45:52:12]
Speaker 1
Do you have trouble finding a good spot, a good level spot? Well,
[00:45:53:13 – 00:46:21:24]
Speaker 1
this can, this can happen anywhere. I mean, even if you’re tent camping, which you’ve done for years, uh, it, I would assume that you don’t find out is not level, uh, after you’re laying down to, to go to sleep. Uh, I would assume that a certain amount of, uh, not level is acceptable. As long as it doesn’t move you or, uh, cause the blood to rush to your head. Uh, I would imagine it it’s not, uh, do you ever watch, uh, have you ever watched, uh, um, Rick and Morty?
[00:46:24:13 – 00:46:33:19]
Speaker 1
Holy crap. It’s hilarious. So, uh, Morty was going on about level and Rick said, uh, okay, uh,
[00:46:33:19 – 00:46:50:21]
Speaker 1
it. I want to, I want to tell you what level is. And he created all this sciencey stuff and it little like a 12 by 12 square and made a level thing. And Morty’s like, Oh, give me a break, Rick. What does level, then he steps on it. He goes, Oh my
[00:46:50:21 – 00:47:20:14]
Speaker 1
This is so nice. Cause it was really level. Then he didn’t want to come off of it. It was hilarious. That show is it’s messed up. These people are on drugs that are coming up with this show. Uh, but, uh, you know how I love the little smart ass and the little, uh, non sequiturs, uh, they have so many of those in the show. Uh, they made a comment the other day about, uh, I think Rick said he had never watched the movie as good as it gets and he never will. And I’m like, where the hell did that come from?
[00:47:22:08 – 00:48:01:22]
Speaker 1
I liked that movie. All right. Anyway, uh, let me, uh, let me talk about this one real quick for you wrap up for XJ fans, uh, axles one 10th scale, uh, SCB 10 three Cherokee XJ crawler is modeled on a 2001 Cherokee the last year of the, uh, the Jeep Cherokee XJ, uh, in forest green, which is a fail. It should be red, uh, Pearl or stone white. It has BFG, Goodrich KX tires, a replica worn wench, working LEDs, and a rear locking dig, uh, feature for $499 and 99 cents with the battery and charger sold separately.
[00:48:01:22 – 00:48:05:23]
Speaker 1
so $500 you can look at it. Uh,
[00:48:07:09 – 00:48:28:27]
Speaker 1
if, if you want to drive it around, it’s going to cost you a little bit more. I kind of liked that from the standpoint of, uh, if, if, if there’s after markets that may be better, uh, bigger battery, uh, more better charge, uh, charger, so on and so forth, so you can buy your own. Um, I got to tell you, and I’m going to lose some friends here. I think the biggest
[00:48:28:27 – 00:48:48:17]
Speaker 1
waste of time is me watching a video of somebody driving an RC Jeep or anything around. I don’t care. Why in the world do you, if you want to spend that much time for an RC and you don’t make the little
[00:48:49:22 – 00:48:58:12]
Speaker 1
noise while you’re driving around, that’s fine. But I think part of it is let me see if I can fool people into thinking that this is a real vehicle.
[00:48:59:17 – 00:49:02:13]
Speaker 1
Why, why in the world? Why, why?
[00:49:03:16 – 00:49:06:18]
Speaker 1
I mean, you’re not nine. I mean, you couldn’t afford the
[00:49:06:18 – 00:49:09:00]
Speaker 1
thing if you were nine years old. I get it.
[00:49:14:19 – 00:49:15:02]
Speaker 1
Yeah.
[00:49:22:22 – 00:49:24:10]
Speaker 1
Oh, God. Yes.
[00:49:27:01 – 00:49:46:09]
Speaker 1
And you can get a lot more Jeep parts for less money off for the RCS, but it’s still, they’re still very expensive. You know, the one, and I’ve mentioned this before, the one that I really like is when the chicks sitting in a, in a chair outside with three big monitors set up. And she’s, she’s driving an RC around from the point of view, she’s driving and she’s, she’s driving RC around from the point of view of the driver.
[00:49:47:15 – 00:50:18:01]
Speaker 1
And she, and, and you know, and I’m pretty sure the whole, the whole setup moves. So you feel the off camber and yeah, now that’s pretty cool. The only thing is, is that it doesn’t really have the same type of suspension that your Jeep does. So it bounces very hard. Yeah. It bounces very hard, very dramatically. Now, if they could, they could get it where it is almost a hundred percent the same as driving a real Jeep and you could put explosives in it.
[00:50:20:00 – 00:50:26:24]
Speaker 1
I don’t, don’t do that. We’re already on a list, but you know, we’ve, I think we’ve all seen James Bond.
[00:50:28:27 – 00:50:35:23]

So anyway, with that, I think we’ll wrap it up. Chris, did you, did you have anything you wanted to close up with? Yeah.
[00:50:39:02 – 00:50:55:03]
Speaker 1
So I don’t know what’s going on with Josh’s mom. She did take a spill and broke or cracked a hip. I was going to have to have that replaced. She’s currently going through chemotherapy.
[00:50:56:10 – 00:51:36:13]
Speaker 1
And I did not hear from Josh last week or this week. So I’m sure he’s in the midst of taking care of his mom. Hopefully we don’t have any bad news to report anytime soon. But if you keep her and Josh and your prayers, we’d really appreciate it. All right. So upcoming events or events that are currently going on SEMA public day and SEMA cruise Friday, which is going to be the day that we released this episode in November six in Las Vegas with the cruise rolling out at 4. PM. So public day, Chris, you ever see a SEMA going full public? All of four, I guess it’d be four days, Tuesday through Friday.
[00:52:22:19 – 00:52:54:21]
Speaker 1
Well, you know, if SEMA sold tickets for every day, maybe they would have to charge companies so much with the booth. And if, if you needed power and you’re a little taped off area, quote unquote, booth, there’s nothing built there. It’s just a taped thing. And if you need power run in there, they wouldn’t charge you $4,500 to tape down an extension cord across the floor. It’s like, I can do that. Nope. Sorry. You can’t. It’s like, cause it’s, it’s all we have to have money for this and understand it’s a profit deal type thing, but spread it out a little bit.
[00:53:03:24 – 00:53:25:13]
Speaker 1
I don’t think we’ve ever talked about this and your, your day job, as you put it, you, you have run across people doing interviews for YouTube and magazines and stuff, and you told me, I think it was like a 15 minute interview, 15, 30 minute interview was $7,000. Uh,
[00:53:30:24 – 00:53:32:25]
Speaker 1
Lord. And, and
[00:54:02:26 – 00:54:13:08]
Speaker 1
Is it just position like, Oh, we’ve got to do it. That’s just the way you have to do it. You have to, it’s because I think you’ve said it’s not a very good interview. Without naming any names.
[00:54:31:18 – 00:54:32:21]
Speaker 1
We know who you are.
[00:54:54:10 – 00:54:54:22]
Speaker 1
Okay.
[00:54:55:29 – 00:54:56:27]
Speaker 1
It’s like Joe Rogan.
[00:54:58:01 – 00:55:14:08]
Speaker 1
It’s a big deal. So you’re willing to, because it’s a big deal. It’s worth it. At least in your mind to give it a try to, so we just need, we just need 30,000 more viewers, and then we can start charging a $7,000 for, for two and a half minutes.
[00:55:25:01 – 00:57:02:08]
Speaker 1
Oh, I have to charge it just to weed out the wannabes. Uh, the only the people that, uh, that are, that can really do it. Oh, speaking of not wannabes at all, but we have a interview with, uh, Ruby, uh, for ultra car 4,600 racer king of the hammers, uh, so and so forth. That’s going to be coming out tomorrow. Uh, we’ve been trying to push that on the social media. Uh, it was a really fun interview and, uh, I was, uh, I did not know that, uh, Ruby until I was interviewing her is such a big deal. Uh, she’s one of the really big deals. She was actually out at SEMA signing autographs at the Lincoln electric booth. Uh, she does welding all kinds of stuff and she was a lot of fun. And, uh, so, uh, I would definitely look for that, uh, that interview. Uh, with Ruby, uh, this Friday, uh, on, uh, the Jeep talk show, I recommend going to YouTube and just doing a search for Jeep talk show. Uh, you can always go to Jeep talk show.com slash Y T as a YouTube. And you will find it. All right. Uh, another event. And I found this one interesting. Uh, Angela, I think it’s Angela car auctions, uh, November 7th and 8th. I believe that’d be Saturday and Sunday in England, uh, with the 1953 M three eight a one and then a 1950 CJ three a, that would be cool to go to a Jeep place. I mean, a Jeep event in England and have a spot of tea. I just, uh,
[00:57:03:29 – 00:57:05:29]
Speaker 1
biscuits. Yes, which are cookies.
[00:57:05:29 – 00:57:21:26]
Speaker 1
it. Just say cookies. It’s like the Canadian bacon. I’m hoping that Trump works out the deal with, uh, with Canada. And, uh, I’ve, I think I sent him a message and say, force them to stop calling it Canadian bacon. It’s not bacon. It’s ham.
[00:57:24:17 – 00:57:39:18]
Speaker 1
I couldn’t work it out where the American in there, like the Gulf of America. They also call it the Canadian of America, but that doesn’t work or the bacon of America, but American bacon is good. So we know what that is. Anyway, you stop calling it Canadian bacon. It ain’t bacon. It’s just a lie.
[00:57:40:20 – 00:57:45:09]
Speaker 1
You get excited. You have some it’s good, but you say this ain’t bacon.
[00:57:47:01 – 00:59:38:26]
Speaker 1
All right, Chris, you know, that’s the button of nonsense for tonight. Well, thank you guys for being here. Thank you, Chris, for, uh, for recording with us for our flagship episode this week, and we do this every week. You can go over to Jeep talk show.com slash contact to find out all the different ways that you can absorb the show, uh, that you can sign up to our newsletter, uh, join our zoom meeting every Tuesday at 7 30 PM central time. Uh, there is something I don’t talk about very often is the, uh, uh, JTS, uh, flicks, uh, you can now go to, uh, uh, uh, the JTS flicks thing, which is basically a Netflix style, uh, interface so that you can watch, uh, the Jeep talk show episodes, uh, like you would a Netflix. Uh, and the, the really cool thing or the thing I think is really cool is like, if you’re at work and you want a little entertainment that you can start and stop as, uh, as you have time to, uh, uh, watch or listen to the show, it makes a little picture in a picture. And you can move that little pip anywhere on your screen or second screen or a third screen. And, uh, the other really cool thing is, is that if you want to continue, uh, listening, uh, or watching the show, uh, as you’re driving home after work, uh, you can do that too, by sharing it to your phone and it will pick up right where it left off on your screen at work. Uh, and of course it works on your phone too. So you can do the whole thing from your phone, which I think everybody does. It’s really cool. It’s a great, easy way to fill an eight hour day, a nine hour day. You can just watch it. It’ll automatically play the next episode on the list. So, uh, yeah, it’s a lot of fun. It’s not a bad thing for us as far as views go. I’ll just be honest, but that, but that’s kind of the deal, right? If you make it entertaining, educational and easy to absorb, then people have a tendency to do that.
[00:59:41:12 – 00:59:46:24]
Speaker 1
And you got nothing coming up, right? Because everything’s done for, uh, for now until EJS, right?
[01:00:06:05 – 01:00:06:20]
Speaker 1
Oh, that’s right.
[01:00:22:07 – 01:00:30:09]
Speaker 1
So, uh, maybe jump on the gun here, but are you going to be doing the MC a thing at winter fast this year? Yeah.
[01:00:37:13 – 01:00:41:05]
Speaker 1
How, how many, how cold is it jokes? Can you, can you make as MC?
[01:00:52:14 – 01:01:02:01]
Speaker 1
Are you going to have the VAR camper out there this year or? Mm-hmm.
[01:01:07:12 – 01:01:22:00]
Speaker 1
Keeps your popsicles cold. All right, Chris, thanks a lot. Uh, we will catch you again. Uh, hopefully Josh will be back, but if, uh, uh, if not, we always have a great, uh, person to fill in for Josh and, uh, appreciate it. You
[01:01:23:25 – 01:01:26:08]
Speaker 2
You’re my friend, you’re my new friend. Hehe.
[01:01:26:08 – 01:02:12:19]
