Extreme EV Testing in New Zealand?

The new Wagoneer S all-EV is being tested in New Zealand.  Seems like a long way to go.  The brand’s all-electric SUV has been equipped with an advanced traction management system that includes a Snow mode.

The 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S accelerates from 0-60 mph in just 3.4 seconds.

With 600 hp and a 100 kWh battery, the Wagoneer S offers a 300-mile range.

Priced from $71,995, the EV is undergoing extreme testing in New Zealand’s snow.

Jeep says the EV can be recharged from 20-80% in 23 minutes through a DC fast charger and should be good for more than 300 miles (482 km) of range on a single charge, an impressive figure given the performance on offer. Aiding in the range is the fact the Wagoneer S has the lowest drag coefficient of any Jeep ever at just 0.29, the same as the Tesla Model 3.

XJ Killer had a diesel Engine?

20 years ago the Jeep Cherokee XJ was replaced by the Jeep Liberty KJ.  What a piece of crap this was, but did you know that it had a diesel? The Liberty infused bold engineering advances like an independent front suspension and a new 3.7L V6 to replace the longstanding 4.0L I-6 engine.

Four-wheel drive is via Command-Trac®; Liberty Limited models receive Selec-Trac Full-Time 4WD and 3.73:1 axles as standard. For the 2005 model year, Liberty was offered with an optional 2.8L turbo diesel engine and six-speed manual transmission.

Toledo Jeep Museum?

It was announced five years ago but so far no updates on the museum since 2022.  People are interested in Jeeps in Toledo, you can tell by the success of Toledo Jeep Fest, year after year.

In late 2019, Toledo-area officials and executives gathered to announce plans for a $40 million, 56,000-square-foot museum called The Jeep Experience. Modeled after Milwaukee’s Harley-Davidson and Kentucky’s Corvette museums, the leaders said they hoped to open the facility in 2022.

More than two years later, the project’s status is unclear. Companies and individuals involved with the project had either no update or declined to provide further details about progress. A site has not been formally announced.

One of the leaders spearheading the effort was ProMedica CEO Randy Oostra. A ProMedica spokesman said that “there is nothing new to share at this time.”

Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator fix made things worse!

You may recall the 2021 Wranglers and Gladiators with manual transmissions, pressure plate could overheat and fracture.  The solution, 24well update the software so you can’t get as high RPM.  “rpm reduction” software.

Well, the fix seems to be causing a loss of power in the updated Jeeps.

My opinion is this is what happens when you come up with a ½ ass fix.  The clutch system being used is the real problem.

The safety recall of 69,201 Wranglers and Gladiators in 2023 due to intermediate pressure plate could overhead and eventually fracture.

Frankly, I’m surprised they didn’t wrap the bell housing with a flak jacket and call it done.

Elections:  you will rarely hear me talk about politics, but as we head into the November elections I wanted to take a second and mention a couple of things. A past president said, “Elections have consequences”.  I’ll let you figure out who that was.

As I was listening to the Ben Burr interview, it hit home the times we are about to go into.

I enjoy getting out on the trail, it’s been a while.  And nothing better than modifying my Jeep or some old truck.  But all of those thing are at risk depending on who is in office.  But everyone focuses on the president.

But both houses and the local reps are equally important.  It’s those lower reps that keep the others at bay.

Its not often that all the houses are on the same side.  And in the near past, it wasn’t good.

You will need to decide what will be the topics that drive you in an election, but for me, it’s keeping the government out of my life, trail, and garage.

So take a couple of minutes and do some research. The Blue Ribbon coalition would always be a good source, along with SEMA. Yes that SEMA, they are not just a car show.

Just remember, there are groups working hard to take your freedoms, what are you doing?
